That's actually a legit reason...sorry I was so hostile. Yeah I'm pretty much getting earth rise prime for the same reason. There's never been an authentic, G1 accurate, reasonably priced prime at retail. Thanks to him I can truly tell mp-44 prime to f#*k off.
PotP Evolution was the only thing that came close, and it came with a good and accurate bonus Orion Pax, and was 45 dollars, so was cheaper than Earthrise Prime... You just had to put up with the terrible, godawful truck mode and trailer. But hey, 2 out of 3 good modes was worth it.
...but still doesn’t have as good of an alt mode... (I mean, he looks good and all, great in bot mode...)
And I appreciate it to, but siege and earthrise were the next logical steps in the evolution of the perfect retail G1 prime toy. Despite everything I've said there's never really been a TF/OP that I've hated or would call the worst. Maybe cyberverse and RID, and even then I can forgive them since rid had some good warriors and cyberverse (even if they took a while) eventually gave a collector oriented version. So to summarize yeah nothing abjectly horrible.

I'll be honest, as someone who didn't exist when G1 Optimus was repackaged for G2, let alone the original release, I do think it's a decent, if dated figure. The vehicle mode is practically perfect, and the robot cuts a clean silhouette, has basic articulation, and has a charm to it. This is from a guy whose only ever had G1 Primes with broken smokestacks and no accessories, not even the hands.

foc optimus is objectively bad in comparison to wfc. No issues with the shell prime I find the shadow spark one pretty good looking , only have issues with the tlk voyager prime just due to how they did it with the sdcc variant and after . They had the means to make it screen accurate but didn’t for the mainline release . Instead you’ll have to shill out for sdcc which came out a month after for twice the price .
In any case, then, it shouldn't be in this thread. If it was a great figure, then it's a great figure. I'm talking about the actual mold being bad. The actual figure. Not SDCC variants or whatever.
WHAT? POTP Optimus was the closest to g1? Siege was closer POTP was too big and looked wrong in every mode but the armor bot mode
you started the thread with TR voyager being bad because in your words “ it looks weird and turns into a plane “ I think I’m fair in my opinion that a figure that lacks paint apps and bleeding blue eyes is bad . When there’s more accurately painted ones in the same line as exclusives .
Despite G1 OP's bot mode not standing the test of time, his truck and trailer mode's have only been bested by $100+ MP versions. Even the upcoming Earthrise Leader class isn't worth replacing the SIEGE Optimus that I've already spent hours removing the "battle damage" off of.... And since I don't even consider the Monkey version a real Optimus at all, one of the worse more recent OP's is the WFC version.
It's pretty rare--Tfwiki attributes this to "scarce distribution (compared to other fast food retailers) and due to kids tossing them in the trash years ago for being such rubbish toys" lol. I've also heard it may even have been a regional thing among DQs, like the McDonald's nontransforming minibot figures from '85.
