Not sure it's deep enough. It fits the height and width (wing span) but I'm sure it's like 20 inches back to front including the stand...

Could be wrong, and no doubt someone has the exact measurements on hand to prove it, lol

He said including the stand. The measurement in the diagram is only the robot's depth. The actual stand depth is unlisted there. It looks like it might be a touch deeper than it is wide, maybe 24" deep.

If you were looking for planet mode with stand - look at the 2nd picture to the right: says 22.42 inches one side for stand but in one next to it the planet is 21.73 inches in depth so likely the stand is not much deeper since the planet pictured does not go past said depth, unless production exceeds said dimensions....

Still not quite what 4249david was talking about. He says head height and wingspan, implying robot mode, plus the stand.

The dimensions on that diagram show robot without the stand, but he shouldn't be as deep as the stand, and thus should only be problematic if he stands forward or back far enough on it that he extends past the stand's limits, which he shouldn't, for the centre of gravity to work.

Problem is, we don't know exactly how deep the stand itself is. The diagram showing off the depth measures only the planet itself (despite the stand also being measured from the front view). Unicron's planet mode pitches slightly forward on the stand, so he extends past it in the front, while the stand sticks out in the back. So the toy's total depth is greater than the 21.73" as listed, if you're trying to accommodate him in a closed cabinet.

And then bringing us back to 4249david's inquiry, the only thing I've got to go off of there is that the diagram of the stand shows it being slightly deeper than it is wide.

I wasn't thinking about any particular mode. I robot mode you need head to toe if you don't have the wings coming higher. Plus the stand, as it's recommended.

In planet mode, arguably the triumph of the figure, the 'wing span' is the ring and that is taller than robot mode. And by necessity wider than a conservative arm spread. Plus it's definitely requiring the stand.

Whichever way, the stand is at least recommended. I wouldn't put him on top without it, too easily dislodged for me... and he's a big bugger in both modes. I'd hate for people to have to stand him to attention and pull the wings in just because they thought he might/should fit.

I'm thinking we need some detailed data, arm length etc. so people can scope out the true footprint he will take up, because it won't be the initial schematic size unless you're after a toy soldier stood to attention...

I was super excited for this but I've moved and have since been purging all of my Classics toys. Maybe I'll get more excited and change my mind as the release date approaches but I kinda wanna sell it before I even get it, am I crazy?

You probably won't find a MARKERAD case anywhere anyway. That was a short term collection that mostly sold out very quickly.

I did contact Hasbro a month or two ago asking about the depth of the model with the stand- the response was that as it was still in production that any and all details could still change. Below are a couple of extracts from the email conversation I was having with them:

"... He will be 30 inches in diameter (height and depth) when in planet mode..."

I asked them to clarify because 30" front to back sounded rather excessive and this was the response:

"...but regret to inform that there is no other information we can provide as this is still in production. I understand the frustration of wanting to have your shelf ready for your Unicron, but we cannot give more information that we do not have. The information I provided to you is all the team has been able to release..."

I assumed from the beginning that I would have to build rather than buy somewhere for Unicron to reside, but have since have held off from starting because I still believe that even with the stand it will not be 30" in depth. Hopefully the prototype will appear at a few more conventions this year and someone can hold a tape up to the case they use and get a more accurate figure?

I don't know why you guys are still on about display shelves; he's much easier on a chair. I've got one of these for my two, takes all the worry out of it.

Great minds think alike. I don't want to put mine on a high bookshelf because I'm worried he will fall off. So I picked up this couch on Craig's List real cheap!
