I could see Serpentor as a regular figure with his Sky chariot as a build a vehicle.

I'd rather just pay $40-50 for Serpentor with his chariot rather than have to build it

As much as I’m excited for a resurgence of GIJoe at retail I’m also a bit gun-shy with a splash of “be careful what you wish for”. I’ve looked at the Fortnight figures and while I like the idea of all of the accessories, I also want the figures to be quality. Mind you I don’t own any of those toys so I can’t really judge.

Rhetorical musings....is this a long term plan by Hasbro where it will milk the line for a couple years and always stop short of the “definitive 6-inch version of Snake Eyes” or come right out of the gate kicking? I’ve got old enough to appreciate letting things have their heyday and appreciating it for what it was. (Looking at Star Wars all over this commentary.) I’d almost be more I inclined to see a re-envisioning of the brand at 6-inch scale with modern, 21st century versions of the characters and an updated storyline. I know - sacrilege!

if they do a 6-inch version of the 80s classics then I’d be in for the following but perhaps not much more - partially due to funds and then space. Forgive year errors....

    85 Snake Eyes
    84 Storm Shadow
    82 Scarlett
    84 Destro
    84 Firefly
    85 Zartan
    85 Flint
    86 Low Light
    86 Sci-Fi
    86 Viper
    86 Serpentor

I could also get into figures of Snow Job and Wetsuit but I’d want them to do it right with removable helmets and gear.

For HasLab? I say go large or go home. Crowdfund a in-scale U.S.S. Flagg. (You will NOT have room for this)

The rattler is what I think of when I think of joe vehicles, but a hiss tank isn’t far behind. I suppose it’s just possible that some of the smaller vehicles could be done build a figure style (bikes/snake armour etc).

Cobra officers and troopers and regular vipers are pretty high up on my own want list!

I think it's a long term plan solely dependent on if the new Joe lines and Snake Eyes movie take off this year. Hasbro has always been gunshy with GI Joe unless it's a movie year and most of the old design team left.

I don't think we will see anything beyond ARAH and the Snake Eyes movie in the 6" line for at least a year. Modernized reinterpretations are more likely in the 4" line(which happened before during the end of the 25th line, going into POC/30th/50th).
I don't think any aircraft beyond a Skyhawk VTOL, SHARC and FANG copter would make it to the 6" line. Not to mention, aside from shelf space, weight comes into play too. We'd be lucky if we got the Stellar Stiletto.

I have a BBI 1/18 scale F/A-18 Hornet that 3.75-4" Joes can fit in. It's about 3ft long with a wing span at least 2.5ft wide. It weighs at the very least, over 5lb.

Even if Hasbro were to not go true 1/12 scale with aircraft and just made them "toy scale" aka like ARAH where the vehicles were usually under-scaled but with cockpits big enough to fit the figures, jets like the Night Raven and Skystriker would be huge if made to fit 6" figures. The original Skystriker was close to 1/32 scale but made with a cockpit to fit 3.75" figures.

My most iconic vehicle is definitely the Whale.

If they did a haslab version of it, it would be 40" long x 24" wide x 16" tall, roughly double the size of the vintage version. That is too big for any of my display shelves, it would simply have to sit on the floor somewhere which is fine.

However, I would much rather have the smaller to mid-sized vehicles like the aforementioned Skyhawk, Hiss, Vamp, Ram, Claw, TBubble, Air Chariot, Ferret, and Night Landing, more display friendly pieces. Heck even small play sets like Check Point Alpha, stuff like that would be rad.

See that’s where I’m at. I think the Skystriker and Rattler are probably the definitive vehicles to own but in 6” it’s impossible to scale. I do however think you could pull off a Hiss and Mobat / Mauler. I think these would be potential vehicles, that could work.
    Joe
    Mobat / Mauler
Vamp (Joe and Cobra) I know this vehicle is so overplayed
    SkyHawk
    Cobra
    Hiss
    Ferret
    Trouble-Bubble

Hot Toys started to display a Millennium Falcon cockpit at conventions years ago. That could be an idea for display pieces, to create a 6" scale cockpit of the Skystriker and Rattler. Could be an interesting route to take to for the pilots.

Agreed. Anything larger than these would have to be HasLab exclusives. Personally I'd probably pass due to lack of space.

This is honestly the most excited I've been about GI Joe in a long while. I wonder if they'll reveal all four waves or just the first two and save the rest for SDCC?

I keep asking myself the same thing...

Yeah, I haven't been this excited for Joes since 2003, when the Joes vs. Cobra sets same out, and those were pretty shit (but I still have most of them). I continued collecting through Valor vs. Venom for a bit, but eventually lost interest (again, they were pretty shit). Then I got a few select figures when the 25th Anniversary Joes came out in 2007, but that was the last time I bought anything Joe related.

So it's been over a decade since I really even looked at Joes. I needed this 6in line to happen to reignite my interest, just like the 6in Black Series reignited my interest in collecting Star Wars figures.

Yeah those lines were shit. I was obsessed with 25th Anniversary though. Those incredible retro cards. I think I have most of the collection carded in Tupperware.

By the way when people say they want a “New” Joe relaunch just remember Joe vs Cobra and Valor vs. Venom. That’s Hasbro launching a new Joe line.

Yeah, some of their new lines were shaky, especially the build of the figures, but Pursuit of Cobra(if considered a new line) was amazing. I will say some of the Valor vs Venom and Spytroops designs were great, I absolutely loved Heavy Water.
