Of you look at the silhouette of megatron and you look at this little toy you can see some similarities in it. It's just the cannon its not shown there I like yo believe his cannon is retractable

I keep looking at the face here and keep thinking this is reusing Bayformers Starscream's Owl-head from 2007, who at the time was going to be Megatron/main antagonist before they decided to change that for the final product.

I actually hope they don't use that face and instead used something like Bumblebee's Ironhide in the concept art. Hey giving their history with "The Movie" it's only fair they could share the same face but tweaked to have cheek bones.




Or just go the 'Thanos in the MCU' route and have his face be based on a actor with a bit of mocap and work with the facial animation from there.

 

Thanos kind of looks like Frank welker

 

Kinda a stretch imo. He still looks like Josh Brolin with heavy modifications. I could see a possibility of Paramount either using Brolin as a base but have Welker do the voice or go all into using Welker as the face and voice on a CGI body.

 

Silhouette looks imposing at least. Classic and pleasingly bulky while still having a good shape.

If Thanos looks like anyone, he looks like Bruce Willis. But I do see what you mean, somewhat.

I'm gonna level, I hope they don't try to make the design of Megatron seem too evil. Yeah, he's a bad guy, but when you design him to look more monstrous, you tend to feel it only sells the point home that you want the Decepticons to be specifically evil, and yes, they are, the point is that it's a war, and the Autobots are the side we root for. The Decepticons aren't just monsters we blow up, they're the side that wanted to be free and believe in the mentality Megs set for them and want to achieve it by any means necessary.

If anything, go the route of Marvel, not with villains who all feel like discount Lokis or are bland and uninteresting and are just evil. Maybe a prequel could help with the sense of making the point clearer of "Are they REALLY in the wrong?" being an asked question.

 

It just dawned on me; doesn't he look like Alex Milne's take on Megatron when he came aboard the Lost Light and in the last few pages of the Rom crossover?




Granted it's still G1 but another shot at a classic look that can be a possibility.
