I guess, but it looks like a stylized earth form to me. Not perfect, but none of them are.

Uh yeah I dont get it. Because the train mode is nicely earthy and the shuttle mode should be better for the pricepoint but Hasbro had to make more off the leader price point

 

I was implying that the greebled back looks more Cybertronian than anything on Earth, and that if you take away the obviously Earth parts and replace them with Cybertronian bits, you'd have a Cybetronian shuttle instead of an Earth one.

 

I hope we get more exclusives in ER like Siege Greenlight, where a figure comes with a battlemaster. This would be perfect for Artfire. In fact, could we just do that for every character that traditionally has had a targetmaster partner? Wishful thinking...

 

Skywarp, who is also a voyager, came with 3 Battle Masters so a similar set for Artfire.

The feet/boots look like Wheeljack.

However, all of the card game artwork IMHO seems to show him with BIG arm pipes like Hot Rod, a crotch like Hot Rod, and a hood chest like Hot Rod. And a large spoiler.

 

The tcg art is just his IDW design, which itself is a slight tweak of his RotF toy.

Lockdown's art in tcg is based off the above design (i think) > the closest retool does seem to be wheeljack. Car windscreen as chest, front bonnet as feet, rear wheels and boot folding out to arms etc.

I'm totally with you on wanting an original mold though. With plenty of spikes and his tcg design head. BA

I think when Hasbro were asked about the inspiration for WFC (may have been warden cant remember) they gave 4 g1 episode as source inspiration. One of the episodes was more than meets the eye 1, which i might be wrong is the first and only appearence of Hauler (not counting the Japanese G1 cartoons).

Could be wrong and in not way Hauler confirmed. But 8'd say there is a least a dash of hope there...

 

Keep in mind, Hauler in that episode was based on Grapple and would have been Grapple if the cartoon folks knew about it.

Apparently, Grapple was considered for a 1984 release. They put him in the cartoon without a name. They were told he wasn’t getting released yet. He was held off from appearing again.

Obscure eHobby stuff positioned their green repaint as the yellow tow vehicle seen in MTMTE and further suggested he was one of the 8 Constructicons who created Megatron in S3.

As a side note, you have a couple of weird continuity hiccups/loops in Sunbow.

I think the deliberate one was that Alpha Trion died creating the Aerialbots who not only went back in time to help Alpha Trion create Optimus Prime but again went back to help A3 become Alpha Trion. The Aerialbots created their creator and I think this was a deliberate time loop. It’s poetic. Alpha Trion’s death is what made him who he always was.

The sloppier one is that Megatron corrupted the 6 Constructicons in Omega Supreme’s S2 origin. But Season 3 established that the 8 Constructicons created Megatron to be their leader. There’s room for a story that makes sense of that but we never got one.

If memory serves me right, the tcg mercenary faction was the first hint.

I think I might be responsible for the Lockdown from Wheeljack idea, though I'm sure I'm not the only person it occurred to. Crunching the numbers on mainline release slots it looked unlikely that, other than Doubledealer, the Mercs would be released as anything other than exclusive repaints. From there it was just a case of looking at the four characters shown in the tcg and trying to figure out who they'd use as the base mold. Detritus from Hound and Mudflap from Grapple were fairly easy. There's the Guido Guidi concept art, from the same batch that showed Barricade from Prowl, showing Deadlock from Springer. That just left Lockdown and, from the available candidates we knew of, Wheeljack's kibble maps on quite nicely to Lockdown.

Of course, the characters shown on the TCG may have not a thing to do with what's actually being released and all this is pie in the sky.

But we're still not getting an original mold for Lockdown. I'm sorry @Iruini, my sweet. Maybe next time?

Also, if the Modulators don't get redone as Hook, Line, and Sinker I'm just going to use these three.
