Tank definitely

The main problem I have with the tank isn't so much that it doesn't suit Megatron. Unfortunately a tank has become too much of a default mode for Transformers toys, there's little creativity. And half the time they're lazy-engineered H-tanks; leaving the Transform looking incomplete.

 

Okay, I would have to say that the helicopter alt mode works best for Megatron. But a tank is a close second, or rather, it is up there alongside the helicopter idea. I would love to see the Decepticon leader as a triple-changer with a tank and helicopter alt modes. It would not only make him unique amongst his troops, but he would be almost like a one-bot army. He could lead more from the front, and yet still require his faster troops because both modes are not as fast as other military vehicles. :3

 

A mega tank suits him well. It projects power & dominance in some way. It's the same way one sees Overlord ,but minus the jet : an almost perfect mode for destruction

 

Take the basic idea of G1 Galvatron and apply it to Megatron. Make him a siege cannon; not super mobile, but a powerful living weapon.

Then from there he can become a tank or a Helicopter/Gunship.
Personally, if I was going to make him a truck, I'd go with something like TFA Ultra Magnus' alt-mode. Just give him a shoulder mounted cannon as a nod to G2 Megatron.

 

For G1 Megatron, I prefer bad ass tank, jet, or helicopter. I never liked the idea of him turning into a gun, but I would not be against him turning into some kind of cannon mode similiar to what G1 Galvatron turns into.

 

1.) Tank
2.) Truck
3.) Helicopter
4.) Train (I don't think ever existed but I want to see it)

 

You know what? I wouldn't mind seeing a Megatron Train just for something different. There are several examples of military gun and armored trains that would work pretty well for a Megatron train mode.

 

Trains as Transformers bug me. Trains need tracks. Seeing a train just driving around open environments looks....wrong.
It's like those fish Transformers that fly through the air instead of only moving in water. It's just wonky to me.

 

From a handheld toy standpoint, I think a gun is perfect. However, if we're talking about media, then a tank or jet would work best.

 

Definitely a tank. It just seems more war-like.

 

I love the classic P-38 Gun used in the G1 cartoons, but I also enjoyed the sequence of Megatrons transform in the first like action movie when his alternate mode is a jet.

A neat idea for future media is that Megatron could be a triple-changer, but not like a Bitzwing retool. Have him go the Super Megatron route and have his alt modes be "super" versions of already powerful vehicles like the tank and a attack helicopter.

Like give me a good fusion of Animated and Transformers: Devastation game Megatron and that would be sweet.

 

I just said that!     What I mean is I said I would like to see Megatron as a triple-changer or a helicopter and a tank.  

 

I like the gun mode best but prefer the tank. Gun mode is just, cool but doesn't make sense. A tank on the other hand is just a giant gun with treads, and it makes sense.
I allways thought it would be cool if megaplex was forced to be a gun to keep him under control.

 

I grew up with the movies and re-runs of Animated, so for me Megatron will always be an aircraft, and more specifically:

 

A Search and Rescue Helicopter with minimal armament (side mounted covering fire guns)?  

 

as long as it looks cool amirite guys

 

A tank seems to be the most fitting. Its a heavily armed and armored weapon of war just as he is.
