This dude looks amazing but I am hesitating to pick him up because I'm broke as hell, but also because he's basically a statue and I like my bots transforming. Of course Shockwave does have an alt-mode but then when you look at it, it looks like nothing. Cool bot mode though!

Two deluxes, or even one, would offer better value. And the SS has plenty of deluxes to choose from.

Some of the stuff people in this thread are complaining about are things we've known since it was first revealed. Yes, he shares a transformation and few parts with Megatron. So what? They still look totally different in both modes. Hasbro is obviously known to use shared engineering in a lot of their lines to reduce costs. Look at the entirety of Combiner Wars, for Christ's sake. Yes, his alt mode is kind of a jumbled mess. Well, tough shit. He never transformed in the movie, so what exactly were you expecting? Mine will spend 90% of his time in robot mode anyway.

Loose joints and too soft rubbery parts are a bummer, but he still looks damn awesome, and loose joints are an easy fix.

Theoretically, instead of gluing the blade together, could one use some kind of filler for it instead? Something that would pour in, adhere, and stay more rigid?

Yea, it does a fantastic job.

I'm not following the fandom as closely as I used to so I wasn't aware of the faults of this figure. I wasn't even aware that it was a mold share until I had it in hand.

I would say it's about 50% more rigid when you glue it together. I actually thought about hollowing it out a little bit and gluing the old dark of the moon Voyager blade on the inside because it fits almost perfectly in length and shape. If it went wrong I didn't want to destroy both

And this guy isn't even the first SS figure to share similarities to others (both in pieces and in transformation) in the line.

Would it have made that much of a difference if he had different hip pieces than Megatron's?

Interesting fix! I may just try this. The blade is really sad, especially since the rest of the figure is so freakin BOSS. And everyone's pics are so good! Hey @Yaujta can you please detail what areas you added paint to? I'm looking to sharpen up this guy's already awesome paint scheme. Definitely gonna add a little gold and silver and redo the red in the eye like you did.
I'm shocked when people DON'T know about future at this point, especially if they're active on this site.
No. No it wouldn't. This, like heliDrift, is shared engineering done right. It's only noticeable if you're a dork like us and is a great reuse of the work they already did without being obvious. Now 07 megatron having the same chest as the rotf one is a bummer...

The figure is at work, so I'll post pics for you tomorrow.
Outside of the eye, adding the paint to this in the correct locations according to the CGI is super easy.

Some of the complaints in this thread are valid. Like, no one is going to 100% like any of these toys, ya know, and there's nothing wrong with whining on the internet. The internet is 25% whining and 75%, uh, "corn".

To speak more on the strange alt mode, though. At some point HasTak designers realized he had no alt mode in the movie but gave him an underdeveloped alt mode anyway. I'm just saying, they could have scrapped an alt mode and gave him an even better paint job! Or, like, they could've made him come with a tiny Ravage, Frenzy, and/or the Pretender girl with the sexy tongue. Don't lie and say you wouldn't trade SW's alt mode for the Pretender girl who's name I've forgotten.

Moreover, these complaints are great sign that the Studio Series line is, overall, very good! :D  Being honest with how we feel towards toys, or anything in life for that matter, and voicing those feelings is how we get better stuff in the future. To discredit someone's thoughts towards a thing because they don't like a thing the same way just ain't right ya'll. There are exceptions but ya' get my point. Saying "this is a trash" instead of "I don't like this", for example.

ANYWAY, the good news is that these leader class toys do eventually fall in price to around $40 or so buckaroos so I think I'll keep an eye out for that in a month or so. Also, when ya'll paint this guy up pleeeeaaaase come back and post pics! :D

The eye was a bit more labor intensive. I had to dig out the stock molding to allow for the new gem to counter-sink in far enough, plus cut above the eye into the forehead without it being obvious.

Beautiful work and thank you! I'll be following this as a guide. Looks like I'll maybe need to use a sponge for weathering in some areas.

The black weathering isn't easy to replicate, and I may give it another go.
I put a coat of black down (Vallejo gloss), then used a dry hard-bristle brush and wiped it away. Worked pretty well on a small area, but the sponge would probably work better.

There is no way Hasbro would ever release a toy, in a box with the word "Transformers," that doesn't transform, in a line of all transformable figures.

Got to say I absolutely love this guy! Willie and brains are a throwaway. The paratrooper is kind of cool and looks awesome for some displays. Unfortunately however much I love this figure and everything I've tried that floppy rubber blade is just completely irredeemable and there's no way this should ever made it out of prototype. Luckily I have the dark of the moon voyagers blade which looks good and fits really well.

Apart from that absolutely love this figure

Not sure what the fun in having a Transformers action figure that doesn't transform would be...Not for me.

Are people buying this guy online or finding him in stores?
