A boxed G1 Optimus Prime in Hasbro packaging has always been a show-stopper for me, so getting the new Walmart cab-only Prime reissue in vintage style box was a dead cert. We get the first post-1990 re-use of Jeffrey Mangiat's original Hasbro Optimus box art too, plus maximum novelty factor. I thought that artwork had been lost, but it's not beyond the realms of possibility that it has somehow been reconstructed from older materials I guess.

Yeah, I've been wondering about that too. Jim Sorenson couldn't even get that artwork for his Legacy book, so he had to use the Japanese version. Hopefully it's been found somehow.
And again I find myself pining for an original box art painting...I don't care which, I just want to own one, even a Throttlebot or Jumpstarter would be awesome... 

 

The reissue Devastator giftset from 2018 is still a fantastic release. I knew I wouldn't find a vintage box in this condition, so the reissue was a no-brainer. Toy quality on mine is fantastic, so lush and fits together very well. Display value is off the scale, just look at it...



...I won't be putting the stickers on, though, as they're a touch too reflective and thin, prone to curling and peeling.

My son got this for Christmas and for the most part it seems to be excellent quality...most of the joints are much tighter and smoother than my G2 Devastator was as a teen. However, Scavenger's feet pop out of their sockets when rotated during transformation unless you forcefully push them toward his legs while you do it, and Hook's arms pop out of their sockets unless you use an extremely ginger amount of force to pull them out. That kind of control has been tough for my 4 yo! Have you experienced anything like this in your copy?

I also don't know why they put those "release" triggers on the add-on pieces that barely do anything, but that's a nitpick! It's easily his favorite toy now (or at least tied with some other TFs   ).
