Compound eyes: good for multi-purpose general optics but expensive Single giant fuck-ass eyeball: Cheap and I CAN SEE MY HOUSE FROM SPACE Also, at least in terms of post-OYW, Anaheim basically poached all of the "war criminal" Zeon MS engineers and they let the fuckers keep designing things that make the *gupon~* sound.
Anaheim's corruption only grew "War's over! We can absorb all of ZEONIC Corps. properties! What could go wrong? Right!" -Anyway... one Jegan pilot done! Of all the years I was dab detailing these guys with a Gundammarker, one drop of Panel Accent does all that and doesn't strip the paint off by accident.
That looks amazing! Which Panel Accent are you using, and does it work on acrylic paint? I was detailing my pilots with Gundam Pour type marker until I noticed I wipe away half the paint along with the excess, so now I just leave them unlined.
I paint the Pilots with acrylic, and use the Tamiya Panel Line Accent, which is enamel. Pilot after I finished painting him: Dab it with the accent and immediately wick the excess off. Done: I use a cotton tip or a rolled point of paper towel and just let it make contact with the line accent and let it absorb it along the creases without wiping.
Yeah, makes sense with snipers, but that still doesn't quite explain why the Anksha has one, given it is neither a space-use nor a precision use combat suit. That's not a Gundam, that's a GM. Basically your standard issue grunt level mobile suit, as far as early OYW in the Thunderbolt series is at any rate. Normally they're WAY stripped down and have barely more than a gun and shield.
Me and @Bountyhunter3232 finished thunderbolt GM he was so much fun to build he is our first HG I'm sticking with HG over RG me and @Bountyhunter3232 haven't watched the shows or read anything about the lore we thought Gundam was a brand
It actually is, but it's also the name of a specific model of mecha in the Universe. The GMs are the Stormtroopers to Gundam's Darth Vader.
Anksha has mono eye because it utilizes Jegan's part to cut cost just like Rezel. However, for the most part, there is no deeper meaning of why some GM have mono-eye and some don't. It's just one of the million inconsistency created by Bandai. The real reason why many of GM have mono eye is because Yutaka Izubuchi who designed two of the most popular GM, Jegan and GM Sniper II with mono-eye so their variants all share this feature.
...it literally says "RGM-79 GM" on the bottom of the box in the picture you just posted. And more notably, the top of the instructions of that kit pretty much say it's the RGM-79 GM ver. "Gundam Thunderbolt" "Gundam" is essentially the name of the catch-all franchise, much like "Transformers", but with the former it's because the most famous mobile suit is the RX-78-2 which is simply named "Gundam' and was the start of the original series "Mobile Suit Gundam". Over the years there have been a lot of mobile suits that bear the title Gundam, but only the RX-78-2 is the original "Grandpa", all other Gundam designs have longer names like "Gundam Exia" or "Strike Freedom Gundam". Nah, those are Zaku IIs. GM's are more like the Rebel rank and file that Darth Vader force chokes, with the Gundam itself being the equivelent of Luke given it's got a laser sword (two in fact) and is piloted by an untrained teenager who has superhuman mind powers that give him the edge in combat. Okay, that makes sense.
It literally says "GUNDAM THUNDERBOLT" in huge block lettering on the side of the box. I mean, give them a break, they said they thought it was the brand name, which it is. We still call all our models "Gunpla" despite being short for "Gundam Plastic Model Kit." I meant in regards of being the generic foot soldiers compared to the main individual, as in the RGMs are Stormtroopers compared to the RX-78-2's Darth Vader.
On the topic of backlogs, this is just my box of AoZ. Hyz2Rah is on PO and I've got another Primrose in another box. *sees a red humanoid robot that transforms into a truck* Its him, its Transformer. Taking the prequel trilogy into account, Char being analogous to Anakin Skywalker is really freaking hilarious in hindsight.
Not to mention scarily accurate given that A) Char does become a newtype himself, and B) Gundam: The Origin pretty much is the Char Aznable story.
Do the ribbed polycap shoulder pegs on some of the post-ABS frame MG's work like ratchets or detents?
No. I'm pretty sure that non-circular connectors (either ridged or hexagonal, typically) are just to prevent the joints from binding.
Not really, the first generation Re/100 have these little raised 'nub" edges on their shoulder posts which do bind between the ribs in those polycaps, but they don't provide adequate enough friction, so it's like @mx-01 archon says and are still a round sleeve and post connection. It would be wise if you've got a loose joint problem to tighten the fit with some pledge or a thin layer of cement. Meanwhile, I sidetracked from one project to another again for the night due to a couple reasons. First, I was answering questions for a friend about modifying camera eyes on his Zeke kits, which got me thinking about my lo~ng unfinished RG Johnny Ridden Zaku. Then I was in Hobby Lobby this evening browsing for alternatives to dome lenses. I still have plenty of my HiQ Parts aurora lenses I've been using on just about everything that needs them, like my Cyclopean GMs, but in the event I run out wanted to see about a replacement strategy. I didn't find anything there, but I know HLJ has various WAVE brand sets of clear dome shaped lenses that would be fine for what I want. Then I almost made an impulse decision for something I've been wanting to do for over two years now... The idea is simple, replace the power cable links. These are round, metal, uniform shape and molding compared to normal plastic craft necklace beads. However even if they look as though the outside diameter would be perfect for using them as power cable links, unfortunately their interior diameter is wrong. While I didn't buy those beads, I did take the Zaku out of the backlog for the night so I could measure these parts, and so I went back to work on painting the undersides of the armor. I have focused so much of my time working on this kit painting the backsides of the armor with my two tone style for dark gray panels within a normal gray lattice framing. I also managed to get some work done on the legs to finally look like I'm actually building this thing. I keep putting this kit away because I can never seem to get the detail parts I want for it, and sure enough I got my monthly "Open Order" notice from HLJ for those packs of MS verniers that have remained on backorder since October... 2018... So, I think I'm reaching "F*** it" on my plan to use anymore detail parts other than the ones I've already used for its camera eye, shoulder spikes, and the relief molded Zeon crest for the shield.
I think I've got good measurements for my 1/10th scale Nu beam saber replica based on the Ver Ka for dimensions and the 1/35 resin bust, now just need to find a supplier for the white shrouds. I already have a place for the grey core part to put in the electronics.
And first build of the year. Figurise Asuna. The build was very simplified - the face is just one whole piece for example, and the elbow/knees are formed by the upper and lower arm/leg pegging onto each other. Ayame was such a great kit I had high expectations for this one, and it kinda fell flat. The lower body is really restricted because of her clothes.
I have a set of the Wave lenses. They're not bad, but you're better off stockpiling HiQPs in the particular size(s) you need. The Waves aren't bad for random one-off uses in unusual sizes, its just you're going to be buying a lot of them for consistent/regular stuff. And speaking of Wave, you might be better off getting one of their vernier packs instead of waiting for Bandai. I've got some, so if you want measures/size comparisons I can get them for you.
