What is the secret with the toros extension on this piece? I simply cannot apply any more force, and the damn thing will not move.

Put your thumb inside the torso and keep the extender piece pressed down against the dino crotch, where they screw together (that sentence sounds awful). Pull the torso with your other hand. It'll move; it just requires a terrifying amount of force the first time you do it.

Yeah, it's about applying force to the right spot. Basically make sure your grip is as close to the actual sliding joint as possible and 'feel' for the area where things don't feel like they're flexing and it'll pop.

Apply even more force. If it breaks it's your fault for being an heavy handed, ham fisted idiot who forgot these are high end collectables and not toys... nothing to do with TT at all. Enjoy your figure!

P.S. Pretty much what @Mercutio and @SPLIT LIP said. It's an awful piece of engineering which essentially invites you to rend you £200 figure in two. Like they say it will loosen over time but jeeeeez it is not fun or reassuring for the future of that joint.

Eh. It's only the initial transformation that's scary. After that, the joint loosens up enough that you don't need a scary amount of force to pop it.

like the others mentioned, it takes a lot of force to loosen it up the first time around. but what i’d like to add is that you shouldn’t just grab the two halves and yank with full force, as it’s plastic after all and you could sheer it completely in half.

what i would do is use both index fingers and thumbs and put them adjacent to one another, with each hand holding opposite sides of the waist. then just squeeze thumb><thumb and index><index until it finally gives. the reason why i say to use the force from your fingers is that once it finally clicks out and loosens, the pressure on your fingers will release and stop pulling the waist out any further than is needed.

    hope this makes sense!

Isn't that pretty much what I said? I actually found it stiff the first 3 or 4 times (progressively less so but still stiff)... and I've only transformed him that many times. My point was its not a fun experience and it worries me that tugging on so hard on a joint like that might do it damage over time.

Everyone’s right in using a lot of force, but here’s a tip to help:
When you’ve got a good grip on the torso, as you pull up, tilt his torso back (in the direction of the hollow side of his torso) at the hinge. This makes sure the small bumps that makes his torso stay in place with friction will have some clearance for you to actually slide the torso up over the bumps.

    Hope this helps!

I used a spudger to spread it apart without an issue. That part scared me when I tried it with my hands.

Hahaha I used a lego separator to wedge the pieces apart when I first transformed him. :p

What I was saying that after that first hump, you need nowhere near that level of force. Not scary at all after the first go.

Humm..well my personal experience is to the contrary, therefore we can only conclude that I am either lying or your experience is not definitive and should maybe be qualified with the standard 'YMMV'.

I mean, that's the general consensus with the figure. But if yours is different, you do you.

ok.... not convinced it is though. The general consensus seems to be it loosens up over time (like I originally said). From what i've read here (and experienced first hand) the actual level of looseness seems to be on a scale from "not scary at all" to "still pretty scary but not as bad". One size does not fit all. It's a pedantic point to make but you did pull me up on it ;)

Like @Booster Gold said, it probably varies from copy to copy.
My figure was a bit tight the first time around, but I didn't have any real trouble transforming him. The joint has been smooth ever since.

Remembering this figure exists makes me want to go and pick it up again.

These BW MPs never get old. I never get the feeling of "that's it?" I can go back and pick up any one of them and just be thrilled with what's in my hand.
