My comic shop had these and asked if I ordered them...no I did not but I picked up a bumblebee anyway. They only had two sets...but no primes at all. They don't even remember ordering them and haven't sold any. They were wondering why they didn't get any primes.

Did my first paint job. With a 35mm scale DND mini (also painted by me) for comparison.

Decided to go for a realistic weathered look (or at least as realistic as I can achieve). By the time the rest of my orders come in, I'll have three of each figure so I'll be able to try other aesthetics as well. I think I also want to try cell shaded at some point. Paint texture looks a little rough but you have to keep in mind just how small he is. Still, I could've gotten it smoother but I use a lot of blotching when I do weathering.

And another photo with his Bee brethren. He's tiny even compared to G1 Bumblebee.

[Edit] damn, I might need to repaint those windows. Paint defects are so much easier to see in photos.

I'm disappointed in the outline faction logo. I was hoping it had been printed with white ink but it looks like it's just a grey printed in cmyk which means it can't lighten the material behind it - only darken it. I'll probably cover it up with a sticker. I've got some decent ones that shouldn't look too bad. For now, though, I'm going to stick some blue tak under his foot and stick him inside my relatively dust free display cabinet and leave him for the next couple of months to let the molotow chrome on his grill, stacks, and gas tanks cure.

Thanks! Working on Megatron now and I think he's going to be my best. The paint I'm using for his silver parts is fantastic - I think I need to replace all my other paints with this brand. It looks like he's made of actual pewter rather than painted plastic. That'll probably change when I start in on the next layer (dark pewter color is just the base coat) but I still think he'll be my best looking figure. I'll post pics as soon as he's done - not sure if that'll be tonight though.

... Oh, I guess I should actually mention the brand of paint after raving about it like that. It's P3. I'm told it uses liquid pigment rather than solid which might explain why it looks so good on the figure compared to the citadel paints I normally use.

No idea. In the US they're carried in game stores. But I happen to live in an extremely geeky part of the US where game stores are common (Utah Valley) so I've had pretty good luck. Seriously, there are five game stores within about a 20 minute drive from me and that's 20 minutes of non-highway driving.

Oh! I'm using P3 on a Siege Targetmaster (I'm attempting to paint Blowpipe to look more like it's Takara counterpart). Where are you getting yours? The place I was purchasing them from closed down.

A store here in Utah called Game Grid but pretty much any tabletop gaming store should have them.

Finished up Megatron this morning. There are a few defects I wish I'd cleaned up before starting but I tend not to notice them until I'm already painting, like the blob on his chin, but otherwise I'm very happy. Decided to do kind of a hybrid of the toy/toon/and comic color schemes, hence the darker helmet with a very slight goldish color to it (same color is on his shins) and the red on his inner legs and his elbows (didn't like the look of red on the inner forearms, though, so I skipped that). Cannon and waist done in an even darker version of that goldish metallic (and then cannon dulled and darkened further) and the grip parts done in a much more plasticky black.

Also wanted to show a WIP pic from last night to show what I was talking about with the pewter look (obviously it took on a more painted look once I lightened it but it was fun for a while).
    IMG_20200124_214017~2.jpg

I've got to figure out a way to outline the eyes on these guys, though - the red/blue color just surrounded my metal with no shading in between kind of falls flat. They're just so small though.

I'd love them to do a Dicemasters game like they are for Marvel, DC and TMNT at the moment.

Thank you! I mostly used citadel but also some p3. I think I also threw in some game colors (their black is pretty plasticky looking so it worked great for Meg's grip) and, believe it or not, there's actually some craft paint in there too but I mix it with acrylic flat base and/or future to thin it down cuz craft paint kind of sucks.

I've been working on Starscream on and off. I've sculpted a cape onto the figure and I need to design some pauldrons and a crown for 3d printing. I'm only doing one coronation screamer and I'll paint another one unmodified. The plan is to do one of each character in realistic tones and one in cell shaded tones - now I just need to decide which the coronation Scream will be (assuming it comes out good enough that I bother painting it).

Cape is still pretty rough. Last night I dremeled in some more contouring (shaping a thin clay cape while it's still soft is ridiculously difficult because every adjustment screws up everything else so I let it cure first) and patched up a few areas. Once the patching apoxie is cured, I'll give it a good sanding and that should make it look nice. Obviously I had to slice his wings off, angle them back, and glue them back on.

    Ah thanks.

Wow! I can't wait to see that one done. You gonna give His-Majesty-Sir- Drama-King a crown too?

Oh did I not mention that? I'm going to design the crown and pauldrons in 3d and print them.

Bumblebee: Buy three. Paint one yellow (Bumblebee), one red (Ladybug), and one blue (the third Microman color, can't think of what's his name is going to be in Transformers).
Optimus Prime: Buy two. Paint one in red, chrome and blue, and the other one black and chrome (Nemesis Prime, get the Decepticon stickers from Reprolabels)
Ironhide: Buy two. Paint one red and the other one black.
Condor Cassettes: Buy four. Paint one black and red (Laserbeak), one black and orange (Buzzsaw), one blue and green (Garboil), and one orange and gold (Sundor, get the Autobot stickers from Reprolabels)

and Wizkids should also make a Micross cassette robot without the piledrivers, so that I can make Frenzy and Enemy. Rumble is the only one armed with the piledrivers...

These all look pretty good, but Arcee's legs look like they could use a head or a half of extra length.
