I wonder if the guns from Barricade/bluestreak will fit the shoulder port on wheeljack?? I think that would look way better than that weird block of a missile

I think it was simply more a case of “how do we make a mainline Starscream that doesn’t cheat the chest transformation and keeps the tip of the nosecone at the top for conehead retools?” and came to the conclusion that the ‘06 transformation scheme was likely still the best at accomplishing that within budget.

This is the thing people complaining that the Siege bot mode looks better than ER don’t seem to get, or at least aren’t acknowledging: the Siege mold cheats to get a good looking robot mode, and I honestly love that the ER seeker isn’t compromising the chest transformation, even if it results in a slight downgrade in articulation and overall look.

I'm not that much of a stickler on waist although I do feel wrists are a must especially with melee weapons and ankle tilts are easy enough to implement and help a ton visually and for stability.
I just don't feel that this one has the old classics mold's charm nor the siege molds clear cut aesthetic. I guess for those who missed out it is a nice experience and it does remind me of how the Studio Series pulled the same thing with an upscaled and upgraded DOTM Starscream but I feel like that was an example of what this could have been.

Well i thought id talk about The Military Patrol and i think that Bombshock and Growl look great!
    Bombshock first:
The new desing captures the shape and overall look of the original quite nicely.
Although he is bulkier overall i think it suits him. The robot mode is a nice update to the oginal with the bigger chestplate
and excellant looking head. Wish there could be more blue paint on him! The re-use of Top Shots upper legs, heels and Cannon is
    nice and suits Bombshock!
    Growl next:
His shape in vehicle mode is great, along withe colours. also the cab beign smaller is a nice improvement as the side windows feel out of place in
his type of vehicle mode! The lenght of the roof mounted cannon feels more substancial too, although i do prefer the design of the originals cannon.
The robot mode also looks great althought the re-use of Flaks body means this isnt real acurate the the original (not a dealbreaker though) although
black paint on the chest would look better! Growls headsculpt is kick ass!
    The combned weapon mode:
I dident think those would continue for Erthrise this year after the mixed reaction for those modes in Siege, but was surprised when i saw it today.
I like their weapon mode, its unusual especially with the third barrel lower than the other 2. The weapon modes unusual shape is no turn off.

Overall the Military Patrol featuring Bombshock and Growl are a great Micromaster two-pack and i personally look forward to adding these two Decepticons to my collection!

Even if he may not be exactly the way I want him, ER Cliffjumper IMO still completely blows away every other CHUG version of him. We finally get a CJ toy that isn't just a red Bumblebee, and I think it looks fucking beautiful. For someone who was frequently on the cartoon, I believe the CHUG toys we have gotten didn't completely do him justice. And I think in general, this toy line is possibly better than most, if not all, previous versions of these characters.

    - I like the Generations Wheeljack and the T30 Hoist a lot, but these new figures look more like the characters than the old versions, and that's definitely a plus.

    - I definitely understand the gripes with Starscream, but besides the Siege and Classics version (which I never had, but I wanted at one point), I think the ER version absolutely defeats previous toys for him, mainly the CW and POTP toys. I think his POTP toy was probably his worst CHUG toy ever.

    - Solar Storm Grapple was nice, and I actually did really want it at one point, but then I thought the truck mode still looked too much like a fire truck and that it didn't completely work properly for Grapple. Even though I don't really want him to be an old Fuso again, I still think his ER toy looks awesome, and I cannot wait to get it.

    - Optimus Prime - even though he could look a little bit better in some areas, including his trailer, this figure is pretty much a no-brainer for me - I think he slaughters just about every previous CHUG version of himself. I will always like the original Classics toy, but when I saw the ER version, I didn't want that figure anymore, even though I've never owned one.

Cliff and Grapple are both standouts in my opinion.
I think old Generations Wheeljack holds up well and succeeded in what it was going for; the new seems about as solid and likewise succeeds in a different way.

...takara exclusives tend to follow animation colors more closely, but hasbro's established clear precedent for their modern figures to homage the animation models but provide classic toy-based color schemes...

Makes me wonder though, we'll likely never see megatron as a realistic walther.p38 handgun again.
But what if we scifi up his gun mode like the 2006 toy? Or the Machinina shows. I'm especially fond of the Maketoys Rioter Despitron double barreled handcannon.

Semi related note, how have we not gotten proper tf gun replicas from Nerf? The way they're doing with Overwatch.
I'd pay good money for a Rival Nemesis reshelled into Prime's ion cannon. Or a fusion cannon I can strap to my arm and launch tennis balls from.

Literally the only way I'd be in on the new Cliffy is if they do him in both of those colors.

id say even that is unlikely because they have intentionally given every single g1 style megatron (including evergreen and cyberverse) a tank mode since combiner wars at the end of 2014. they've standardized him as a tank just like prime is standardized like a cab over. will we get alternate versions? probably, but g1 megatron is now a tank

Shockwave and Sixshot both had their gun modes changed (the former to a spaceship and the latter to the infamous submarine) despite looking nothing like a realistic gun, so I don't think Hasbro is going to give a gun mode to Megatron again, no matter how fictional.

I'd be very careful with regards to who to listen to. The guys who actually know what's coming and what will happen haven't really posted here in a while and when they have, it's been intentionally vague.
Watch it be Machine Wars or Alternity to troll.

youre just figuring that out? They couldn’t rerelease Megatron in 1992 during G2 and they tried by making him purple and neon orange. That classics Megatron broke toy gun standards less than 2 years after it was released. That’s why when actually did he was all transparent red.

he’s never gonna be a gun again.

Yet dollar general sells a toy 357 that looks, sounds, and has rubber bullets just like the real thing. The orange tip is even removable. It’s possible but not Necessary. He could transform into anything as long as his robot is G1 and comes with a mini version of his alt mode for starscream to wield.

Yeah those toy guns that break after 20 minutes. I know why you’re talking about and those toys are not made by hasbro.
