Those faces look a bit goofy. Long horse-faces from the profile view, still, not the worst I've ever seen. It's a bit hard to tell what they're meant to represent, they could be based on the originals but given how different they look it's hard to say for sure.

They aren't terrible, I may end up picking up one of these just to have a smaller Quintesson to go with the voyager one (if it turns out great).

I just love these floating tentacle eggs, as uninterested as I am in Cyberverse as a whole I still am tempted to own this just because Quintesson.

The heads on this toy actually remind me of Aku Aku and Uka Uka from Crash Bandicoot.

The last I heard was that YouTube would be taking into consideration how the videos are made. Any reviewer that used bright colors and in excited or energetic will be considered as aimed at children.

In fairness, Cyberverse faces are pretty goofy. Windblade looks like a marionette, Bee like a hyperactive airhead, Wheeljack has a goatee that translates horribly to toyform and Prowl is a bit chubby-cheeked.

The helmets are not the same mold and are not interchangeable between Shockwave and Prowl. They are hard plastic and are designed to fit snuggly over their respective figure's torsos. I do not have any of the other small Spark Armor figures, so I do not know if either helmet is compatible with any of the other figures.

I found the set yesterday at Target Geary, and was very surprised it was an open-face package...

but I guess it's not unusual for similarly sized Cyberverse product...and I do love how the package is completely the opposite of the bright yellow coloring of the regular Cyberverse line...

and the Quintesson is pretty cool, I have to admit...

I really hope we start seeing other quintessons like the jailer and executioner. I loved those designs as a kid and the impossible toys were so fragile. Then the prices skyrocketed on those too

Picked this set up after work. The Quintesson is actually pretty decent for what it is. The one gave reminds me of Victorian, which I find humorous.

I spotted this set this afternoon at Target. The Qunitasson does look cartoony.

After messing with it for a little while, the $30 pricetag is a bit hard to agree with. The Quint is almost purely a fast food toy, both in gimmick and plastic quality. It just feels unrefined.
The Prowl and Shockwave it comes with are just the Spark Armor ones with new headgear.
$20 would have made more sense.

Is anyone else getting an Action Master partner Needler vibe from the little control mask things?

That's sad but not totally unexpected. I hope it's still a fun toy at least.
Hopefully the WFC Quintessons will be made to a higher grade.

Yeah, I also hope the ER figure is worthwhile i like the Quints, so it'll be nice adding them to the shelf.
Meanwhile, I returned this set. Just couldn't enjoy it enough to keep.

I just want two of these just have some variety in my Quintesson race. $30 is a tough pill for just one figure. The other two I would give away to my little cousins or something.

For those that want this but don't want to pay $30: if you're patient, Target exclusives are always available at a discount eventually. They typically have good toy coupons in the Spring and Fall.

Yes, but emphasis on patient. We've had the Rainmakers and other cyberverse exclusives since about toy fair last year. On the bright side. The price drops fast, rainmakers went from $75 to $49 to $33 in the span of 2 weeks.

A toy company releasing toys? Goodness me. There's certainly no precedent of that happening.

You were doing good until the "kids are dumb thing." Is it really so hard to believe that a little kid will look at a toy and say Hey thats cool! I want one. I didn't realize that a toy making tv appearances were the only types a kid was allowed to care about?

    Ebay:
Maybe the language is a bit harsh, so I'll recapitulate on that. Let me redefine. Kids are RIDICULOUS. My son's best friend at daycare's excuse to not do what she's told is "a bear will eat me". Kids want to eat substances that defy all logic just because it's colorful and has enough sugar to distill Kansas directly into beer.

One of the things I think adult collectors (and marketers, really) can get bogged down into is the convoluted logic that is a child's toy choices and decisions. People spend billions on market testing and whatnot for good reason. It's almost impossible to crack the zeitgeist of the modern Western child's tastes.

That is to say, I think kids are way less complicated than we believe sometimes. What I was getting at is that looking back at some of the things I wanted to buy as a child makes me cringe. Kids want to buy some of the dumbest products on the planet for no other reason than it looks cool, weird, gross or bizarre. Feast your eyes on this Boglin:

This horrifying hand puppet shaped like David Cronenberg's love letter to lower intestinal parasites is something I wanted my parents to buy me as a child. Why? Hells bells, I have no idea. I just did. On top of just looking nasty, it smelled like industrial sludge. So any assertion that some kid might not want something because it's "unfamiliar" or "weird" doesn't really make any sense to me.

I get you might not have liked my choice of words, but I certainly don't think wanting this nightmare turd monster was a sign of any intelligence I had, real or imagined, at the time. :p
