That happened? All I remember is Cobra Commander gets turned into a snake, Roadblock gets blinded by fairy dust, Don Johnson, crazed Tunnel Rat blowing a hole in the side of a giant creature, and Duke taking a snake to the chest. And, "Cobra-LALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALALA!!!!!"
I'd like to take the 25th anniversary/Collector's Club mentality and take the best from all continuties eventually, and just sculpt them to somewhat fit potentially in the same universe, like how Star Wars Black Series sculpted the few aninated characters they did to look realistic so they wouldn't look out of place. While I agree with just about all the requests in the last few pages, personally I'd love to see a few figures just based on the figures on the original original line, the 12 inch one. Besides young Joseph Colton, I'd love to see the others like Action Sailor and Action Marine representated (with new individual identities most likely)
I do not care about packaging, but a Cobra Commander three pack (Battle Armor, Hooded, and Steel mask) would be nice, as well as a reproduction version of the original Crismon Guard Commanders two pack (if there is enough demand, I would also like to have a Tomax & Xamot business suit attire). Stormshadow in his classic Ninja suit, with all his weapons, including an Excalibur sword). Also, removable heads for the entire line, so you can have Joe's in cobra uniforms, and cobra characters like Baroness, Zartan, etc in trooper uniforms or joe bodies.
I'm not big on packaging either. I'd only keep it if it's resealable and an homage to the ARAH cards, otherwise I'd throw it away. Business suit Tomax/Xamot screams fan channel
^I'm getting so many email notifications that I might have to unwatch the thread. It's glorious that Joe is back.
What would this scream? Because, lord help me, I would probably buy it in 6" form. Though of course, I'd need an actual cane instead of a lightsaber.
Spread the word, and the main word. Joe is back, time to spend. If Joe rake's in more green then JLow as a stripper, we will finally get some of the things we want.
Hasbro's banking on that reboot Snake Eyes origin movie to do well this year, hence they're most likely taking a chance.
If Hasbro produces what people want it will sell. If this 6" line looks like garbage, guess where it will end up? G.I. Joe is collector driven, and has a small shelf life for 21st century boys (3-8 years old). Look at Fortnite, the boys could give a rat's ass about the toys (speaking from the 9-13 year old demographic, eleven year old nephew and his friends), V buck > all.
Funny story. My wife and I went with my brother and his family to Japan a few weeks ago. One day, bro and I and his two boys went to Akihabara (our wives went and did normal human non-nerd things that afternoon). Bro and I totally nerded out over the toys and Gundam kits in the various shops, but his boys (10 and 17) were bored to death, even after we repeatedly offered to buy them whatever they wanted. As they were growing up, we had fed them (or tried to feed them) a steady diet of models and toys. The younger one is still sort of into Gundams, but the older one has no interest in this stuff at all...he was pulling a Teen Groot the whole time, his face buried in his phone. The only thing that got them even partially excited was going to an arcade.
Hasbro managed to blow up Star Wars to 6-inch from Kenner's 4-inch scale. So no brainer for G.I.Joes, and it's just a matter of timing when they'll do it. As for Vehicles, large ones will be either store exclusives or via HasLabs depending on the scale. As for Vehicles (single-rides) for mass retail, expect Cobra hovercrafts and motorbikes. Heck Hasbro already did that via Marvel Legends' Rider Series. They can just retool and repaint Black Widow's bike for Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. And re-use Wolverine's Chopper Bike for Zartan and The Dreadnoks. They could end up as an exclusive. Expect Hasbro double dipping on the molds to increase potential sales down the line. The mainline may end up in box packaging Legends/Black Series style. And eventually they'll re-release some figs in retro carded style. I don't mind having General Hawk with his winged back-pack & Armored Cobra Commander. Wasn't that from the DiC era of cartoon series? Army Troop Builders will keep this line alive along the way. Since they're are willing to army build Storm Troopers in Black Series, Hasbro already have basis. If the line becomes successful and self-sustaining like Legends and Black Series, I will not wonder if Hasbro explore giving the Joes a Pursuit of Cobra re-imagining. Oh since Hasbro made Snake Eyes x2 per case, expect more Snake Eyes being doubled in the future. Hasbro already realized Snake Eyes will be the line's "Iron Man", "Deadpool" and "Wolverine".
My imagination is running wild, thinking of what figures they will do and how I'm going to rearrange my room to accommodate them.
Tbh I have mixed feelings about Cobra-la...I did enjoy the cartoon. However, I prefer the comics’ take on the origins of Cobra. Oh yeah, got a kick of seeing Sgt. Slaughter too! I meant from the design point of view as in uniforms etc. It can’t be help if Hasbro botch the paint/colours...that’s probably a QC issue! X) Yeah, I agree on the Fortnite observation but could it be that the targetted audience are only attracted to console gaming and not toys?
