So I wonder if Quintesson Alicon means we won't be getting an actual Quintesson then (in a previous thread)?

There's a product code for a Voyager Quintesson plus another one for the Deluxe Alicon.

It is very very rare for a toy to reach the stage that it's got a product number and made it onto somebody's computer system for it not to be made. T30 Legends Brawn & Thundercracker and Titanmasters Optimus Primal &..... I forget who else he was coming with ..... Are the only ones that spring to mind

It’s likely those were intended from the very start, and only got scrapped later on and thats why those listings existed. We know Primal and Toraizer we’re going to be repaints of Apeface and Sawback, so it’s likely they were planned from the start as they designed the molds.

I think we disagree on what constitutes an "error of judgement." I've already conceded that it had to be done. According to the set-up that Hasbro had created, the paired Micromaster weapons existed, and thus when the 10-pack was created, they were stuck having to retain that gimmick (I'm sure they COULD have ignored it, but I imagine that would have generated complaints from a different quarter).

I think the gimmick itself was an error of judgement, and not the only one in this scenario.

What people seem to forget (in part because Hasbro doesn't really talk about it) is that the individual Micromasters have weapon modes even before you put them together.

They're only slightly more wonky than their combined modes, but they exist.

    An interesting point...

Ultimately, whether Hasbro did right, wrong, a mistake, or whatever, all that really matters is what we ourselves do with the toys we've purchased. For me, that brick red airplane from the 10-pack is definitely going to be Airwave, and I'm looking forward to pairing him with the Airwave that comes out in Earthrise.

Actually, I'd be down for a more Alternators/TFP Season 3-influenced Smokescreen.

I passed on the Selects Smokescreen because I didn’t care for the Cybertronian numbers on the sides, so I am 100% down for a G1 version!

I can finally replace my original G1 toy lost in that garage sale, long, long ago.

Indeed, if the ONLY difference between the two is a switch to Earthen numbers (and a loss of battle damage... if Smokescreen had such... I honestly don't recall, but that would be a must), I'm in!

That would be nice too. Anything but a pointless repeat of the G1 Datsuns.

I mean, I'm not the only person who noticed it...right? Every Micromaster has a 5mm peg, which helps facilitate the combined mode, but is also always placed in such a way that it could be held as a weapon. And in most cases, the "combined" weapon is really just the two micromasters in their individual weapon modes plugged together.

If anything, the Micromaster packs we have today are closer to the Double-Targetmaster gimmick from G1. Which is why most of their combined weapon modes look like two guns humping.

    [IMG][IMG]

It's also very similar to the Arms Micron figures from Japan, where each bot had it's own alt/weapon mode...but could be modular and form a multitude of other weapons when paired up with other Microns.

i wouldnt say every micromaster pair has individual weapon modes, because the sword base does not make a good weapon :p
