Via 115-Utopia Weibo. This kit works with the previous YYW-04A Upgrade Kit giving SS-44 Optimus Prime:

• 2 big guns
• 2 spike knuckles
• 2 smoke stacks extensions

As usual, easy to install and they can be stored in the YYW-04A Upgrade Kit.

 

Where do the gas tanks on the cannons come from? Looks like they have to be removed from his back. I didn't think they were removable.

 

Between the two kits that this company has come out with for Prime I think this one is more impressive.

The guns SS-44 came with were a little underwhelming as they didn't wrap fully around his arms like they do in the movie. These don't quite achieve that either but they are much closer. The removal of the gas tanks is intriguing though as I didn't not think those were removable either. Kinda nervous is that is an expected mod you need to do to the figure.

The knuckle spikes are also a neat addition. Those will look great if posed next to Shockwave.

The biggest thing I need in terms of an upgrade kit though is a bigger shield and a translucent sword that has the proper hilt.

I know FWI has a set of shields but that comes with a bunch of other guns that I don't really need.

I also know Dr Wu made a translucent axe which I need to purchase at some point but no company has yet to made translucent swords and that is something this Prime desperately needs.

 

I think we’d definitely benefit from a bigger shield, a larger axe, two of his handheld DOTM swords (with the translucent orange to match the SS05 swords), his hooks, and his DOTM blaster. I know Dr Wu made his hooks but they’re sold out everywhere I looked.

 

That is the most frustrating part about a lot of the older upgrade kits. Once they sell out they're really hard to get a hold of at an affordable price.

It's the same way with the Fans Want It Kit that came with the shields and all the guns. It's only available on eBay now for more than 30 bucks which is just too much money.

I'm really hoping that a company like DNA can just make an all inclusive kit which will have everything that you just mentioned all in one. It might be a more expensive kit but at least I'd pay that all at once as opposed to tracking down 3 different kits from different companies.

 

Yeah I agree. DNA seems to get their ducks in a row before they reveal anything, so hopefully they’re making their own kit with all the weapons and gap fillers from these two kits, all the Dr Wu kits, and more. I’d rather pay $50 for a large kit instead of paying $10 per weapon on eBay. Fingers crossed!

They need to make a defacto all in one kit..also would love for them to have a way to make the faux wheel functional

 

The gas tanks are glued onto OP's blue sleeper panels, and some copies inevitably end up with missing or weak glue that makes them accidentally removable. My SS-44 has a glueless tank on one side but the other is rock solid which means I wouldn't get to use that feature, so there's an oversight on this kit's designer's end.

 

Really like this but it feels incomplete. Imma need a bigger sheild and a lovely sword.

Ya know what forget what my above said. I agree with the comments saying there needs to be an all in one upgrade kit. I'd buy it in a heartbeat

 

there is a kit for ss-44 but it came with parts to cover the gaps on the jet pack, not the guns.

 

I could've sworn someone had a kit to fill in the cannons...

Speaking of, I like the idea of SS-44 having big mofo hand cannons like in the DOTM poster, but apparently we have to pull out the gas tanks? I'm not a big fan of pulling pieces apart for fear of breakage. Especially if SS-44 is, what $40-50 and is basically a Voyager with more stuff...

 

Very close. The smokestakes are a great idea but slightly oversized. Everything else is pretty good, but it'd be awesome if it came with replacement melee weapons.

Also, as kind of ridiculous and niche as it'd be, I'd wish it came with three tiny running lights you can glue on.

Overall, not bad but I feel like it could be awesome with a few more bits.

 

I just need the stacks, really.

I was thinking about that too. They should make another add on for only the smokestacks since the ROTF and original Studio Series voyager need them too but they don’t need the jetpack guns or knuckles.

 

I don't even care about the jetpack if it comes with new smokestacks

Was there ever any concrete information on release and pricing of the previous set? I don't remember seeing it. Honestly, I feel like it might be more worthwhile to wait and see if DNA Designs does anything.

 

Nice kit. Any other year, this figure would've been in the top five of 2019 easily. But it had to compete against Siege Omega Supreme and Jetfire.

 

I hope both kits are not half of the price of the leader price point. (im hoping the 2 upgrade kits will be on ebay for an affordable price and in US)
