Any idea why Indiegogo is adding on $25 shipping to USA? I'll still back it with the shipping cost. Just curious.

This looks great. I followed your custom thread where you made it and it’s awesome. I have a few questions:

    • How will the AC power adapters work for those of us in other parts of the world on a 230V 50hz supply? Will you be using a variable
100-240v input power supply? Or will it be region specific?

    • The model you show has some different levels of light varying from yellow to an almost golden orange. Will this be on the final product because that orange looks really good.

    • What other differences can we expect between your display model and the finished product?

    • The price you’re offering these at is very reasonable. However if you fall short of reaching the target is there an alternate plan to try to bring these to market at a smaller run/higher price? Or is that it done and dusted?

Good luck.ill be backing this in a week or so.

When we finally got the shipping estimate back from the fulfillment center, it was much higher than we had originally estimated. (Honestly not too surprised given the way shipping rates have been rising in recent years.) We felt this was the best balance, where we paid the majority of the shipping and added a small shipping charge to the customer.

Those are details we have yet to work out with the factory. But the LEDs are DC, and I like to use a standard plug end coming out of the statue, so that the AC transformer can simply be swapped out for one appropriate to that country.

Again, those are details we have yet to work out with the factory. We are going to work out as much as we can before Chinese New Years starts, but we may have to wait until they get back to settle some of these questions. I will tell you that I've been playing with the idea of using color changing LEDs though.

This is it. We set the goals of the campaign for the smallest amount we could order. So this will likely be your only option.

My hope is that we do well over the minimum so that we can go to Hasbro and license it officially, pay them back royalties, and do more pieces like this on a proper large scale.

Ooooo, what sort of color changing LEDS? If I can light this up with blue lights, I will pay extra for color changing LEDs! =0

Wait, wait, there's a plan to bring this to Harbro's attention if you do well enough? Isn't that asking to get sued? Especially considering you will have to admit to selling these knowing full well they would go after it on copyright infringement. Yeah, you're willing to pay royalties after the fact, but I don't see them happily selling you a license after the fact. Guess I'm just worried they'll C&D and sue you to bankruptcy even without calling this Cybertron and avoiding the obvious infringements. Lawyers could argue it's too similar or some such. Just be careful and protect yourself!

#10, chiming in lol. The white variable color temp LEDs would look badass. You can get em from a cool white to neutral to warm. RGB is so 2005 :D

Starzie, the relationships between IP holders and 3rd party creators is not as black and white as you think. In fact many companies monitor the 3rd party as test beds for what the public wants and also as a source for talent.

Case in point, all of the corporate work I do, including Disney, Bethesda, Universal Studios, etc, is because of my 3rd party portfolio.

Besides, Hasbro has often shown a willingness to work with individual creators in the past, at least when it comes to non-transforming toys. That's why there are all those accessory kits you can get on shapeways: iirc, Hasbro made a deal for a slice of the sales.

I had no idea that was a thing. I suppose you learn something new every day. Still, sounds like a scary position to be in. What some companies tolerate seems like it can turn on a dime. If you're confident in your position, though, more power to you. I really do wish there were more official products like this.

...that's after your crowdfunding campaign ends, but if you're still accepting new orders at the time it might be worth getting a few slides on the third-party panel...

Excited to see its live! It's a great looking project, backed it + the satellite option. Hopefully the first of many interesting Transformers projects you can bring to life.

Five days and still only 1% :(  Really hoping it picks up. Unfortunately, I only know one person outside of this site who collects Transformers and he can't swing it in his budget right now. So weird that this hasn't gotten more interest considering what a great deal it is.

Am i misreading the indiegogo page, or is the satellite option just a *chance* to win 1 of 5 satellites?

Is there an option to buy the cybertron and a satellite, without the raffle aspect?

@Black Convoy any chance of this being front paged? Might help it pick up steam, and get people a cybetron?

It comes up as an option after you choose to back it, iirc.
