Good to know, thanks! I’ll try this when I get home today. It’s one of only a handful of small issues with the set. I’m enjoying these so much.

I really like this set. Sure at first I was hit by how small they are (especially since SS deluxes cost 24 dollars here) but the more I fiddled with them the more I liked them. Despite they're size they have good articulation and great detailing. The instructions are somewhat confusing since the transformation involves rotating the waist joints around.
The ball joints do pop off but not excessively so.
The combined mode is definitely... something. It's weird, but I like weird things like this so it's cool in my book. It helps that this doesn't compromise the individual figures at all.

    Quibbles:
-the Shoulder armor, instructions say to put on Arcee's shoulder (and it fits there snugly) but its color-matched to Chromia, however at least on mine the armor doesn't fit snugly on Chromia's shoulder and in any case it restricts arm articulation especially with the arm blade on
-some sort of weapon storage. Granted this is probably because of their tiny size, but still. This actually works out in Elita-one's favor; since she doesn't have any detachable weapons, I end up messing with her the most because it's just the stand I have to worry about.

No problem, sounded like something that had to be tried lol
It does look better with nothing hanging between Arcee and Elita, and this version is a bit longer. Since Chromia's wheel still fits in the gap, I may keep doing it this way.

    Pretty in pink:

    Two small notes:
I know Arcee's bottom half is backwards, but I feel that it makes much more sense that way. It allows for the spikes to be posed in more ways since there's no tab to stop them. Secondly, for weeks I thought the pink cannon didn't actually attach to the arm (it was constantly falling off), but someone on the boards (sorry I forgot who!) said it does tab in. What I discovered is you need to put the arm in with the palm facing down. It pegs in really securely that way!

When I first got this set, after transforming Arcee to motorcycle mode I transformed her back afterwards without instructions and I used that configuration you used in your pic. It didn't feel like a mistransformation lol
Then I took a look at the back of box pic and I realized huh, I'm doing it wrong

The only issue is that the pins are larger on the back side, but it doesn't bother me so I keep it that way. It does feel more natural, doesn't it?

In other news, I like the combined mode more and more, especially since I did the more stable configuration. I definitely think of it as a temporary power-up battle platform thing, where she is pretty much invincible and has massive firepower but only for a limited time.

    Lol

Of all of the movie bot designs, the motorcycle sisters are the most problematic in terms of messiness. They're each just so messy. I appreciate that the designers were going for an alien look with the bots, but I find the lack of symmetry in the bot modes and the fatberg style combined mode very off-putting.

And ya know, I generally like the crazy designed bots so I dunno-- maybe once someone does a good paint job on em they'll look better and more complete.

I hate these designs but these figures are great representations of them. The only improvements would be licensed bike modes and much improved paint apps.

I still prefer the ROTF Legends figure, but I realise that's a reaction against these designs rather than a commendation of accuracy.

Equally I have no interest in the clusterfuck combined mode (which is pretty much just an enlarged version of the smaller design), but it's cool that they included it for those interested.

Finally got these along with the rest of the wave from BBTS. Man, do they suck. I'll take the ROTF deluxes any day over this trash.

Completely disagree. The rotf deluxes had terrible and weird articulation, weren't accurate at all, and we didn't even get all three of them. I loved them only because they were all we had for a decade.

QFT. They were fun, but the new ones had to be at least close in scale. This is about everything I think they could offer for this trio. I like this set.

Did a complete repaint on these, pearled the blue purple and pink, but it's not showing up in pics but gives a nice metallic/metal flake effect

Painting these figures give you an appreciation for the detail that went in them. The sculpted detail al around and inside everypanel reaffirms to me the designers are looking at this line as "MP lite" because the detail in the tiny faces is exquisite and all over that you can see until you get some layers of paint to see the depth.

These are works of art. Seriously...say what you want...but to the studio series fan that is like me, these are incredible.

Chromia's bike pics are missing. The ball joint for her cannon arm broke the blue plastic socket, and the gas tank flapper broke too. Already have another one on the way from amazon. But keep that in mind..they crumbled during painting manipulation 20200126_131036.jpg 20200126_132247.jpg 20200126_132346.jpg 20200126_132456.jpg 20200126_132516.jpg 20200126_132540.jpg 20200126_132628.jpg 20200126_132851.jpg 20200126_132902.jpg 20200126_135350.jpg 20200126_135434.jpg 20200126_135448.jpg 20200126_135530.jpg

Wow you did an awesome job! And I totally agree with you on the detail. It’s stunning. For an added touch of accuracy you could do the wind screens in black.

I'm working on my set as well. Used metallic blue and purple, plus fluorescent pink, airbrushed the fading and added the Cybertronian glyphs. I'm in the process of doing the faces now, so pics probably this week.
I do agree that there is a lot of detailing for the size. Good stuff going on here, even though the figures themselves aren't really that fun. I've never been a fan of figures that make me wonder if I transformed them right, and these fall into that category.

Dang, it's amazing what a little (or a lot, haha) paint can do. Nice work! The unpainted gray plastic kills these figures for me.
