    Hey folks,

I've been a passive part of thesehere boards for quite a while. Now that my son and I got into collecting TF and the IDW comics, we amassed some figures this last year and try to treat ourselves with a nice Lost Light Crew. I know there 's official and 3rd party MP Swerves out there but aside from the hefty price tag, we tend to want our swerve a little bigger than Legion size. And that's where our first custom tryout started.

So we took our CW Deluxe Swindle, repainted him and reshaped his head a little, gave him the goggles and a smirk..(good old kitchen knife ;-) )... cut the 2 neck pieces from a KO OS Chromedome gun+painted those...and applied some Lego parts.

I know this is total amateur stuff, awfully painted, not even close to the quality that is thrown around here ...Actually, the smudge and knife marks pop out in the photos even worse...but anyway : we want to share the idea with you because I think it's quite working for upscale collectors. Maybe someone else, who can handle a cutter and paint properly, will follow our lead :)

    Enjoy!

that's the right question... I skipped that part because the CW Swindle was missing the roof piece on the back and I decided to glue the additional neckplates to the place where the shoulders would normally go in altmode. We basically did this in one afternoon and I just went trial and error... BUT I think with a little more engineering in that area, it's quite possible to retain alt-mode.

Just now I read the text you posted with the pictures
I don't think that this forum is meant only for high quality customs (I didn't read the rules to be honest so hush hush *shhh* :p ).
Your custom is pretty creative and everybody has to start somewhere. And in here you can also get a lot of tips and tricks of experienced people to become better at this.
So as of speaking I'd suggest for painting large areas in one color just use spraycans or an airbrush. Or if you absolutely want to paint it with a brush then spread the paint in very thin layers one ontop of the other ;)

So you don't plan on creating an IDW Lost Light crew combiner?

LOL, now that you came up with this, that LostLight combiner thing might nest into my mind and come to fruition eventually... using CW cyclonus... CW First Aid... we got the MidSection and legs... any suggestions for the arms?

Hound was part of the Lost Crew, too (after the second launch I think). Maybe you can combine the parts of TR Chromdome and TR Breakaway (not Tailgate; edited this) with the combiner ones of the CW Deadend mold variants as TR Chromedome's mold is based on that one. And if you are using First Aid you can use others of the Protectobots, too, as they were all members of the Lost Light crew (again after the second launch as far as I remember). You could as well use Battle Core OP as an unarmored Ultra Magnus for the torso. There's even a reprolabels set to turn BC OP into UM.

I'm actually really impressed with this being you're first custom. I thought the head and paint came out quite well

That's not bad at all, when you consider that Swerve probably should be some kind of geological survey vehicle (he's technically a metallurgist).

I get more of a Countdown vibe from the vehicle.

But the robot looks like a "grown up" version of Swerve (after many, many quests), I like it.

Canonically, Smokescreen and Hound are on the Lost Light, so you could borrow them from Sky Reign. If you don't want to split up Defensor, I replainted a Selects Ricochet as Jackpot, who'd give you a fourth crew member.
