That seems about right, yeah. They were definitely the tallest Minibots.

 

Actually they are.
Constructicons are the size of Grapple in the toon. And the Predacons are a similar size to Rodimus Prime, Springer, and Kup.
The problem is that their combined form should be the same size as the other combiners, which isn't possible since most of them are made out of carbot sized limbs and Optimus sized torso's.

 

If the constructicons should be in scale with siege figure, wouldn't he have to be half an inch tall in combined form in order to fit in astrotrain's shuttle mode?

They're so close... if Megatron were just a little taller than them then they'd be in scale.

 

Going by that scale chart that keeps popping up, he'd need to be more than a head taller. Personally, I'd rather Megatron stay the same height and have shorter Constructions.

That's quite understandable. The ideal situation would be not having to replace either.
I'm getting around it by treating WFC as it's own entity, separate from what came before. If that means a continuity without combiners, so be it- there's enough cool stuff going on without them, and my UW Devastator is cool on his own.

 

In terms of the cartoon, Warpath is a minibot, scales with minibots, there are known animation errors and when alongside bigger characters he is portrayed bigger especially when it's very few.

I think it best to follow legacy and scale him just slightly bigger than ER CJ but still minibot as it was in the beginning, so it should be in the new beginning.

If you want a Warpath that is Hoist height, one offical already exists, Deluxe Warpath from Generations and in 3P there are plenty more etc

 

The G1 animation has quite a few errors, when Powerglide or Warpath were next to Cars, they were car size, when next to minibots, they were minibots size, in many scenes, their scale depends on who's next to them so you cant really make a good guess on scale based upon a single frame in the cartoon.

Best use would be to use an official scale, perhaps not the OZ magazine illustrations however as they are horribly inaccurate or you could base it on how consistently they were depicted in the cartoon.

I personally go with them being minibots, thus should be around minibot size but ever so slightly bigger but definitely not as big as Hoist, personally.

And I don't think mass shifting should really be considered in the toyline. I'd be perfectly okay with one set representing component bots and another representing their combined form.

 

guys, G1 isnt even accurate to G1 scale charts. maybe using a cheaply and hastily animated cartoon from the 80s as your barometer of quality is a worse fucking idea than letting a Dingo run a maternity ward.
