steve blum most known for voicing tfp starscream also voiced shockwave in foc and in my opinion is my ideal voice for the character. with that said do you think he should voice them once more, keep john bailey or get someone new to voice them for the new films?
I don't know if Burton would do it. Bailey's fine for a more G1-esque Shockwave, but Sobolov's TFP Shockwave grew on me too. Assuming 'Bee gets a continuation, I say stick with Bailey.
Why would you ever replace Bailey's wonderfully pitch-perfect impression with the king of "generic smoker thug #2"* from the second worst version of Shockwave ever? *This is not a slam on Blum. Dude is an excellent VA, but his prolific career is padded out with utterly forgetful gravelly-voiced filler roles, which is what Shockwave was. I know his range and talent are excellent, but his voice will always be "gritty" which is simply not Shockwave, and especially bad in FOC.
I liked the voice Corey Burton had for the character which is what Bailey was channelling. I kind of envision Shockwave to having a HAL-900 kind of voice like he is really smart and stuff. I wonder if his Wheeljack fits in that category then.
No, because he actually put on a voice for him that wasn't just his regular voice spoken in a semi-low tone.
David Warner Burton said before DOTM that he's not interested in voicing Shockwave in a movie, so why not get the guy who originally inspired Shockwave's voice Failing that, keep Bailey
I'd rather Steve be Starscream than Shockwave. Shockwave, stick with Jon Bailey unless you can trade up to Corey Burton or David Warner.
Corey Burton seems disinterested in reprising the role, I'll love to see him return, but John Bailey does a good job.
