Thank you!! I assume that’s Provider on the left (the short one) and Stratotanker on the right (the tall one)?

I know it’s a lot to ask, by any chance of alt-mode comparison pics??? Pretty please????

Stratotanker is better, but he's a pretty plain looking figure (no pun intended). Not amazing, but he does the job, and he goes fine with gewalt and chigurh. Plane mode is the weakest, but it isn't bad, and I'm still impressed they managed to give the truck mode a detachable trailer.

Have a look at Emgo's Stratotanker review, there are comparisons with Provider and other figures:

    octanes.jpg

Stratotanker is taller and more toon accurate, that is a fact, but Provider displays well with Starscream too:

    Now Stratotanker.

I don't have it but people have stated that it is not fun to transform and there have been some breakages. I have Provider and it is solid and fun to mess with.
I don't like Stratos' plane mode because it looks like a flying sardine, but somehow it could be accurate to the poor animation. Provider has a much more realistic plane, except for the vertical stabilizer, which is short and ugly.
Stratos' truck is ok except for the plane wings hanging at the sides, but the finish looks toyish. Provider has a weird truck mode with some minor kibble and some nice details, it's bigger and looks better finished.
In bot mode Provider deviates from the slave cartoon look while being recognizable, that may bug you, and his arms are less clean, but Strato looks shortlegged (see first comparison pic). Both faces are ugly, but Stratotanker is accurate at least.

I didn't feel the need to switch Provider, but I understand why some people would do. I just customized mine a little, new face and some touches here and there for a more accurate look, and added one exhaust stack that attaches to the gun in bot mode (don't have pic in truck mode):

And I cheat with his feet whenever I want him a tad taller (similar to TR Overlord) or wants to go for a walk with his mate Sandstorm:

I felt the same about Ditka, hoping FT Berserk will be the one.

Wow, I love every time you show your G1/MP display, healthy envy. And you even have that rare helicopter plane diaclone that didn't get to be a transformer, cool!

Nice comparison @toretilo!! Provider looks to have the better alt-modes (aside from that stubby verticals stabilizer....), but Stratotanker looks better in bot mode (in my opinion, at least) and scales a bit better with other MPs. Not an easy decision. Any word of any other 3P Octanes floating about?

Not that I know of. Now that UT-DX9 and KFC-XTB have released theirs, you will have to wait for Fanstoys or an unexpected brand to announce theirs to have another options.

Stratotanker. Octane was about Galvatron's height in many episodes so if another one made taller by FT would be cool. Plus you can fold up the wings to save space.

Most of the time everyone was about Galvatron's height in S3, sometimes even Rumble and Bruticus. :lol

    20200112_104245.jpg

Hope you get your giant version one day, but I prefer my Octane being about as tall as MP Starscream and XTB Scourge, i.e. a good head smaller than Galvatron.

I owned Stratotanker briefly and never got the hate. The ankles aren't amazing but if you know beforehand what the issues can be then you know how to deal with it. He's clearly the better scaled and screen accurate one too.

I have Stratotanker and think it's a pretty good figure. It's a figure I don't see anyone else tackling him for a while.

The Bogdanov lips on KFC's are a turnoff as are the cheaper feeling materials and poor quality. I had the G1 toy as a kid so I do intend to collect a 3P Masterpiece version at some point but it's not a high priority right now. I hope that after FT delivers Thomas and Berserk, it slides up on their priority list a bit and we see it in 2021-2022.

Nah, I like those voluptuous lips. He's the Decepticon that kisses you back.

Provider is just plain fun to mess with. Great looking in all three modes and not hard to get there either. He’s dated but still looks good. Also, his truck alt mode is more accurate than Stratotanker because in the toon it was just one unit

Yeah the wings are pretty adaptable to certain displays with how you can maneuver them. But yeah, that one is a good one to buy just because it seems as if the metallic finish makes it look nicer and has additional face plates, too. Though I haven't seen any reviews on it so I can't tell how much better this looks compared to the original. But I definitely prefer Stratotanker just for how much more toon accurate it looks, down to the shin coloring. But it's not the most fun figure, the arms keep untabbing on mine.

Provider all the way. Strato looks like garbo
Or wait. Provider isn't perfect but each mode feels awesome in-hand; cohesive and fun. Just not accurate to toon if you need to scratch that itch.

I was wrong about Stratotanker. He's a good figure. Got the chance to buy a v2. The new face sculpt won me over. He looks better than Provider. And wven though Provider feels a bit better than him in the end Stratotanker just fits better into my collection.

Stratotanker all the way, especially the 2.0 version. He’s not perfect at all but the best looking one to me.

Not sure if anyone is a big fan of Octane in general, but I only have him to fill out the Decepticon ranks, despite his questionable appearances in the later season and the little I've seen him in. Stratotanker just serves as a good choice to have on display with a good degree of cartoon accuracy and a Masterpiece aesthetic. Even Provider, had Stratotanker not been an option. Not sure if I'd feel the need to go pay $200-$300 for a FT updated alternative on a character that just isn't as prevalent. Or maybe I'm off on how relevant he is?
