Broken ball joints, cracks, missing pieces, broken wheels, etc... donor bots.

Could get 2 with different problems, and combine into a perfect specimen.

I bought two figures listed as broken from ST and did exactly this. Well, I bought one and Paul threw in the other one. Between the two I ended up with one flawless figure.

    Are you trolling? :lol

I think they made the plastic 'walls' thinner when they upscaled and remolded TR Galvatron into Big Cannon, so if you were to shrink him, I think some parts might feel too thin. but I agree, he would be a nice Voyager Galvatron at that scale. With a little work, you can get the TR Galvatron mold looking decent, but it won't be as 'clean' as Big Cannon.

Looks like you're right! I feel dumb. I was checking the grip on the larger AOYI Prime which was obviously too big, but since I got both the BPF and the Aoyi at the same time, I was probably just conflating the memory of testing the hand size. I probably didn't even test the BPF peg sizes because they had their own accessories, and there was no need.

Yeah, other BMB weapons would fit, but I was looking through my parts here for an appropriately-sized "Prime rifle" (or a reasonable facsimile). So far, no luck.

I wonder if you can affordably buy plastic tubing that would be exactly the right dimensions to simply cut a small length and glue into the fist hole to effectively "shrink" his grip to 5mm. Maybe something a bit rubbery, so there's some wiggle room in the scales?

Weird. Although consistency on KOs is low, you'd think that you'd see more common issues.

I was impressed with the joints on almost this entire lot. The Terrorcons were totally solid. OSKO Sideswipe had weak ankles, but OSKO Red Alert's were fine. BPF Megatron was the only one that was a letdown. The joints don't swing freely or anything, but they're definitely "soft" relative to the weight of the figure. If you leave Megs in a slightly leaning position, he'll start to sag in one direction or another (though if you put him in a balanced pose, he's generally OK).

I mostly tend to have good luck with KO stuff, though it's also possible that I just have low standards :lol

I do take some things in stride. Like, a lot of KO MP cars have one or more loose knees. What can I really do about it? Official Takara MP figures will also have loose joints too. I blame Has/Tak for using pins in a lot of joints that they used to use screws and ratchets in... I'm happy when a KO improves on the original design, but I certainly don't expect it.

My OSKO Mindwipe's rubbery wings were a bit bent when I got him, but I managed to bend them back after soaking in hot water for a minute, and then hitting them with some cold. Overall, the Headmaster OSKOs were pretty good for me. I think Hardhead's hip joints were a bit soft, and Skullcruncher had a loose knee, but all the others were quite excellent.

Just recently, however, the hinge on Weirdwolf's canopy broke, and is currenly being held on by the translucent rubber (so minimal actual impact). I suspect that's mainly just a design issue originating with Hasbro, but sometimes the tolerances shift a bit when you upscale and change the materials.

On the Deluxes, I haven't done a close comparison, but so far I only noticed the face sculpts. Obviously, there are several alterations on the Aoyi Optimus.

As for the BPF Megs and Prime, I haven't noticed anything yet. Can I get a hint? :)

Weird. I would have expected those to be upscaled by the same amount. I'll try them on mine.

I'm not at home right now, but I can try later. Out of curiosity, why that mold for Chromedome? It's a bit bulky, and there's already an OSKO TR Chromedome.

He's pretty close in height with the MP Sidswipe... just thicker. So he'll be probably a head shorter than T30 Brainstorm, who is rather tall.

That's crazy. I'm definitely down to take some junkers... especially G1-ish stuff. I have more movie-style junk parts than I know what to do with! :)

    :lol  Well, that's a start.

You mean, the neck plate? Or the actual balljoint for the head allows for looking up?

I don't recall how high you can lift the overall neckplate... but it definitely goes up.

As for the neck joint on the head... the ball-socket is designed to allow for some upward tilting, but the shape of his helmet actuallly collides, and pretty much prevents any "looking up" poses. Could be fixed with a bit of sanding at the back of the head, I suspect.

Shhhhh, don't say such things, honesty is bad for business (just kidding :)  ).

I consider flaws to be a part of KO world which can't be avoided. I mention flaws to warn people about these, but I don't get annoyed by these things. KOs usually are cheap, so it's easy to buy replacement and use damaged one as source of spare parts.
If Hasbro gets away with horrible qc on Siege figures, why should I be mad at KO manufacturers who sell their products at the fraction of Hasbro price?

It's just my suspicion, but I think big stores (like Amazon) just sell their returns at the huge discount (and in large volumes, like pallet full of random goods). Few years back I got CW Cyclonus (from eBay seller) in the teared retail box with sticker at the bottom that said "Amazon warehousedeals".

I have warned you about Megaton ;) . All in all, pretty much my experience, down to loose ankles on Sideswipe :D .

I'd describe my luck "moderate". Just like I said above, I don't get mad over flaws, I just mention these in case anyone needs some input :) .

The same here :) . Coincidentally, I've mentioned Hasbro qc in my previous message too :D .

Well, my Mindwipe got damaged during shipping so certainly not WJ fault :) . Now I tend to pick KOs with retail boxes, that way if box gets smashed, figure has better chances to survive.
Skullcruncher has two knee joints, lower one can be locked in robot mode, maybe that's the source of your problem (you didn't lock it). Mind that it requires a bit of force implied.

That seems to be design flaw, I read people had that figure broken straight outta the box (Hasbro's, not WJ's).

Hound has details on his backpack removed, as well as the lights on the fenders. His ankle tilt is smooth, not two-step "ratchet".
Sidwswipe has painted taillights, there are tiny tabs added on shins which plug into backpack in vehicle mode (reminds me of WJ KO of CW Breakdown).
Prime - shin fillers (these gray panels at the back) for whatever reason have reshaped tabs (from rectangular to trapezoid) thus can't be tabbed properly for robot mode.
I didn't noticed anything on Megatron aside from crotch part affecting turret rotation I mentioned before.

I was wrong. Only Rook's claw thing has too big pegs. Other fit well - Hound has slightly larger holes in hands, so weapons are a bit loose on him, except Streetwise's shotgun. First Aid's axe, Blades' gun and Hot Spot's guns fit nicely into Sideswipe's hands (Streetwise's shotgun is very tight fit).

It's mainly the neckplate. Lately everything KO i get has something super thight to a point i'm just waiting on someone just to ask how much force. I got it moving finally but everything is thight on this on.

I did a minor fit adjustment to OSKO Megs head as it was catching a little bit and doing that allowed him to look up a bit more without moving the flap to do it, as well as used a spudged to pry the neck flap to move (it does move fine once it's released it's exactly like the Hasbro one) it seems it's commonly stuck due to assembly. But the head doesn't really catch when being rotated once you release the neck) It might be safer to push it up using the two air gap slots on the underside of the part than trying to pry it from the top - be gentle though & don't use something sharp - a thin non serated non pointed butter knife, or a manicure tool might work or a wooden lolly stick perhaps.

Speaking of that megs it's strange they didn't think to include gap filling flaps on the legs just below the knee - there is space to include them.

Got my order from Sirtoys! Took around 3 weeks I think. Box came in great condition, surprisingly. got two (twelve?) Not-LEGO sets, and a KO Blastoff and Vortex/Alpha Bravo for customization.

Very happy with these two! Plastic quality is nice - nothing broke, though tolerances are a bit tight - and there were no missing pieces! Liokaiser's parts have no bot mode, and the combined form is pretty parts-formy, but the samurai is wonderful! No disassembly for the individual robot or vehicle mode, with only some wheels needing to be removed from one leg, and put onto the other for combined mode.
In short, I highly recommend the Samurai, Liokaiser is fun and very happy with the order overall!

Yeah, it's not those locking knees... just the actual knee joint. It's not serious though. I find Skullcruncher to be the weakest of the OSKO Headmaster crew, despite his engineering improvements. He's the one I'm most afraid of breaking (ironically, Weirdwolf felt the sturdiest to me).

Good to know, I guess. :)

I don't tend to swap accessories back and forth much, so thankfully Hound's stock equipment is fine for me (and probably will be fine for a Roadbuster custom as well). I would like some rifles for Red Alert and Sideswipe though... hmm.

Okay, I see what you mean. Yeah, no problem with mine. That plate will raise even higher for me. I actually sort of like it a bit higher than the default elevation of the head. It looks better to me, except for the slight gap under the plate showing from the front.

Maybe strange for Hasbro to have missed that, since otherwise they were quite attentive to gaps on the Siege voyagers. BPF seems to be mostly just following the original molds.

Wouldn't be surprised to see AOYI do something about it, once their Megatron comes out. Looking forward to that one.

I'm not trolling. They improved the toy when they upscaled it. Most notably the head and the removal of the headmaster gimmick. It's just too big for my chug shelf. So I want a voyager scale of it. Thicken the plastic back up, of course.

Oh, I know that that's what you meant... Big Cannon is obviously more G1. I just thought it was funny that once it's been upscaled, someone would them be like "downscaled voyager version, please"

I actually don't hate the styling on TR Galvatron. I think the detailing looks cool. It's just the forced 3rd alt mode and the failed "headmasker" gimmick that killed it.

That's fair. I tend to forget that G1 Chromedown actually DID have a hood chest. It just feels like the proportions on Sideswipe are so much more dramatic that the hood-chest is more overstated than with Chromedome.

Ha! I have all of those, too!

Somehow, my collecting shifted from "find a perfect version of OP and Megs" to "find multiple pairings of OP and Megs that match each other".

It's a sickness, this hobby. :lol
