I think he's talking about characters who don't have earth modes in terms of 'post-86' since from TFTM on, most* of the G1 cast quite honestly just have fictionally styled vehicles for alt. modes as opposed to being based on a solid Earth prototype like the pre-movie guys. Characters like Blurr, Springer, Cyclonus, and Galvatron quite obviously do not have any real world counterpart to their alt. modes, compared to Jazz, Astrotrain, Skids, and Optimus Prime

(*yes there are exceptions like Jetfire and Omega Supreme, but they're exceptions and not the rule given G1 was nothing more than a bunch of random toy molds all sharing a similar transformation gimmick lumped together to fight a civil war)

I voted IDW as I love the Phase 2 designs and they most certainly need figures. Despite my love for animated, outside of a few outliers (Swindle mostly) It really holds up with articulation, accuracy, and scale. Same with prime.

Honestly, Beast Machines needs the show redone to better match the toys! There isn't a single instance where I preferred the animation model to the toy..

I'd love to see the original RiD get some love, in any capacity. But really anything on the list apart from IDW would be good.

Just coming to post this. :D

Even though I voted beast Wars/Machines, I've been giving a lot of thought to RID 2000. It's one of the more overlooked eras of the franchise, and after having read a top five RID 2000 list on Seibertron.com and then breaking out my old toys from that line, I'm having a lot of fun with them. I'd love to see them get updates and brought into the modern era.

The IDW phase 2 comic designs are literally existing toys.

I voted Armada. I love the Armada Megatron toy but he really suffers from a lack of knees.

Cyclonus needs a better toy and both he and Demolisher would look better without the grimaces.

There was a great custom in the Radicons a year or two ago of Hot Shot remade from Titans Return Bumblebee that deserves to be official.

I'd love a retool of POTP Windcharger as Sideswipe. And let's not forget poor old Smokescreen.

Overload and Energon Ultra Magnus need articulation. On the subject of Energon, I'd love a scout size version of Prowl.

Tidal Wave would really benefit from a Titan Class toy.

For the early Armada releases, I'd love a Studio Series line based on James Raiz' fantastic artwork in those early Armada comics.

We could get Armada army builders based on the Decepticlones from the excellent PS2 game.

I'd love to see some obscure comic series get Studio or indeed any kind of toyline...

Devil's Due TF Gi Joe crossover comics where Autobots and Decepticons transformed into Cobra vehicles. Later waves could feature the reformatted Transformers from the different eras of the time travelling sequel like 1920s Stunticons and 70's Hot Rod.

Oh and a Titan of that giant unnamed Decepticon on one of the second series' cover. I suppose Masterpiece Megatron, Soundwave and the Decepticon cassettes can be repurposed along with the Collector's Club Serpent.O.R. so we're off to a start already. Throw in Energon Snowcat and a larger Viper and Tailwind as Rattlers.

Finally, I'd like a line based on the Hearts of Steel series.

There were some great designs in the above series as well as in War Within and apart from a handful of War Within characters, none of them got toys.

If we must keep getting toys of Optimus, Bumblebee, Wheeljack and Starscream, can we get some of these unused designs?

Personally I’d go for Animated or Beast Wars.
Animated does have great toys but a lot of them suffered from incorporating gimmicks, bad design choices, and scale. Bumblebee is a big contender of these. I’d like to see what modern engineering can do with these designs. But personally I just really want an Animated Megatron and Starscream that aren’t horrible.

With Beast Wars we got a tease from generations back in 2014ish and all those figures were home runs imo. Only issue I had was that Rattrap was way to kibbly, but comparing that to his original counterpart it’s nothing. Yes you could say there’s masterpiece beast wars now, but after seeing Optimus primals paint chipping problems, Megatrons disastrous waist cracking issues, and QC and misassembly issues from the MP line in general; I’m afraid I don’t trust Takara masterpieces anymore or masterpieces in general from my interactions with the MPM line.

Anyway there’s my TedTalk give us both hasbro.

Hear hear. I recently got an Animated Ratchet from TFCon earlier this year, and while he's a suberp figure still I'm disappointed in the spring-loaded gimmick in his hands and arms disallowing him to hold other accessories beyond the ones specifically engineered to work with him. He also doesn't come with his trademark magnets, which would be a great addition to a new Ratchet figure. He's also very back-heavy, has quite a bit of shoulder kibble, and relatively weak legs.

I know people are asking for a Studio Series like update for RID2000, but I have to be honest, those figures were pretty good right out of the gate.

I'm not sure you can do too much to them to make them "better". Maybe reissue them with new electronics, new paint, maybe add some joints that weren't there before.

Sometimes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They were solid from the get-go.

Brand-new, main-line figures are easier for newer collectors to get their hands on, though. Plus toy engineering has still come a long way from "the good old days."

    Beast Wars.
We haven't seen alot of those characters in awhile. (Aside from you Primals, Megatrons, Waspinators, Cheetors, Dinobots, and Blackarachnia.)
Let's be honest when was the last time we got a Scorponok figure.

Agreed, I also dislike that crease he has when you flip down the front of the ambulance to form his belly. I’m 1000% sure there’s a cleaner way of doing that. Also spring loaded heads are the absolute worst!

Leader class megatron bothers me more than anything with his bowed legs and gorilla arms it’s impossible to do any kind of dynamic poses. If they fixed those issues, remove the electronics from his chest to make room for all his kibble to fold up, remove the platform from his fusion cannon, and get rid of the creepy puppet face he’d be perfect. Hell, slap on some articulated hands and that thing would be masterpiece worthy.

Not to mention new Animated toys could allow for new versions of exclusives to see wider release, like Wingblade OP. I got lucky and found one for a reasonable price at TFCon, but otherwise it's prohibitively expensive.

Exactly, hydrodive bumblebee = best bumblebee and he was only available in that ugly dark gold and yellow chrome color scheme. And now he’s going for $70+ On eBay. It’s not hard to tell there’s a decent market for this stuff.

Best idea of all Transformers Legacy (it needs a better name) the idea is essentially make a "studio series" for every old line and put it into one so you'd have a wave that includes say...

    Deluxe Tigatron
    Deluxe Hot shot
    Deluxe Prime Ratchet
    Deluxe Landmine

    Voyager Dinobot
    Voyager Prime Bulkhead
    Voyager Lugnut

    Leader Animated Megatron
    Leader IDW Roadbuster

Edit: i just read that someone already suggested this oh well

I voted Cybertron but honestly, the entire Unicron Trilogy gets my vote. The designs are easyto translate, with arguably the least cheating of any series between robot and vehicle. Make some of the gimmicks manual instead of spring loaded and give them articulation, and you got an entire trilogy's worth of figures, with the repaints already built in with the super modes from the latter half of the series and the retools from Armada and Energon that came out in Cybertron (Longrack, Buzzsaw, Dark Scorponok, etc.)
