If you ever want to transform, or frankly touch the figure go with provider. He is a solid enough figure in his own right, I'd a bit small. Stratotanker is one of the worst made figures of the last few years and I found him just unpleasant to mess with

Meh to both. I hope we see a much better version sooner than later.

I went with Provider but for these reasons:
    1) I already owned it and didn't see a reason to upgrade such a minor character in my collection
    2) Provider is solid and well made
    3) It looks Octane-enough to work
    4) I've heard Stratotanker, while looking more accurate (which is a plus for it), wasn't that great a release and sorta looks bland too.

I'm 100% with @boomerdave. Even though Provider might be more of a CHUGsterpiece figure from before the ultra-toon-accurate era he is an extremely well built figure - that also displays great with MP Starscream, by the way. I find Stratotanker a bit too tall. He was a figure with some problems iirc, also his face looks boring. So Provider it is for me.

It’s certainly possible to do better, but I like Stratotanker just fine. He at least looks the part, whereas I’ve yet to see a released Blitzwing or Astrotrain I’d be willing to put on the shelf.

Provider if you need an Octane you can mess with right now.

Stratotanker if you need an Octane that's toon-accurate on a shelf that you won't mess with.

    Otherwise wait.

If I had to choose one I would get Provider, but honestly I passed on both waiting for something better.

I've got Provider and he's great BUT he's not MP scale, if that's what you're looking for. If you're not fussed about scale he looks particularly good with the Toyhax sticker set on him too. I still need to find his gun though :(

My vote goes to Provider, though I don't have Stratotanker.

Built better, fun to mess with. I would've liked him MP scaled, but aesthetically it's pretty good in bot and plane mode, truck mode's ugly imo.

Stratotanker has the scale, aesthetically good in bot and truck mode, plane looks crap (even if it's kinda toy accurate) Doesn't seem to have the quality and fun factor though.

I would've gotten, and still wil get him, if he went on major sale for like 60-70 bucks.

I own Stratotanker and it's the worst figure in my collection.

I didn't realize Provider was that much smaller than Chigurh. I always assumed being from the same company, that'd they be close in size.

I honestly like Stratotanker, but he's got some problems. The way the ankles are built make him sort of wobbly. The shoulder clips in airplane configuration are nigh impossible to undo and will probably break (although with the way mine broke, they're actually better that way. Still holds the parts perfectly in place, but infinitely easier to undo). Palm slots seem improperly sized, as the gun won't fit into the slots at all. On the low end of the problem scale, he's got some gap fillers in the front truck bumper that will probably need to be glued, as they fall out constantly.

Good design overall, just needed a few quirks ironed out.

Provider is a way more solid toy out-of-the-box.

Yeah, I’m hoping for FT to pull through with both their Astrotrain and Blitzwing. If Ditka were the right colors, I probably would have picked him up already...

These spots have been open for far too long!!

Like others have said, Stratotanker is good on the shelf if you’re collecting MP, but if you’re willing to wait it out, you probably should.

I've been thinking about an MP Octane so this is a very timely thread! Just wish there were a couple of side-by-side comparisons! Anyone?!?!
