I guess there are benefits to preordering with BBTS. I can’t believe I’m seeing just...so many breaks and problems with this figure. I just cancelled my preorder, and I guess I’ll continue living with Gundog.

Not that I've found. I assume most people here would go through their supplier for a replacement as that is the fastest and easiest way. Haven't found much on twitter regarding broken Hounds but there's a decent number of Japanese fans that left a beg review with pictures on Amazon. I'm sure that TakTomy is aware of the situation.

However I don't expect them to publically apologize or anything. At most, we'll see them recall the product as they did with Encore God Fire Convoy.

And that's a sad fact. Again, they will only do something if the local/domestic JP consumer makes a bug fuss. Trouble is, TF is more popular among the gaijins who keep their books in the black.

    It won't. Remember Encore GodFireconvoy?:(

My MISB Hound is now on his way to his new owner via USPS Priority Mail. May he have a long life free of cosmic rust.

My second Hound is holding strong after 5+ transformations.

I forget who it was but someone asked me to post pictures of the breaks on my first figure. This is what it looks like.

Big crack behind the front bumper

And a tiny hairline crack in panel on the side of the jeep, just above the joint

I think I’ve decided to send mine back. It came from Toy Dojo, I would just asked for an exchange but I figure I would just get another one from the same shipment. Might order another one from a different retailer and see if the results are different/better.

Probably do better just waiting for a reissue at this point. I'm mailing mines back to amjp and am just going to wait. Sucks, because otherwise he's a great figure, but I'm sure they've heard the complaints and will rectify it later on.

I'm seriously starting to think some Decepticon shot Hound with an eggshell gun and this release is homaging the aftermath. That or he'll just suddenly sprout a surprised look on his face before turning black, crumbling, and having his facemask bounce down a flight of stairs...

Good one. Or Hound was standing too close to Cliffjumper when his Glass Gas went off.

Yep, this is where I’m at too. Mine will be on his way back to Japan in the next few days, I didn’t have him long enough to get used to him being in the collection, so that’s a plus hahah.

I’ve had a trial run and I liked what I saw, now to wait for the reissue so that I can (hopefully) enjoy him properly.

While I agree with most of what you’ve said, scandal would imply that they did something morally or legally wrong.
I do not think TT is trying to fuck anyone over. they just accidentally fucked themselves over.
It’s quite upsetting to see this. Hopefully TT issues a statement and I hope they rectify the problem.

Their choice in QC supervisors suck to put it more eloquently. They need to brush up in their Vietnamese.

But if it's the material that's the cause of the breakage, some heads should roll as to the decision to shift to "cheaper" less stable plastics has been more trouble than its worth.

    Edit:

Just checked tracking and mine just arrived. Once it clears customs I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Had heard rumblings of QC Issues and then found this thread and decided I shouldn't have Schrodinger's Hound so I decided to finally open mine. Ordered from Amazon.JP adn received him on the 27th and finally opened him today. Box shows K1219 and Figure is I2619. I have seen there is a J1719 as well and it seems that people have had more luck with the later lettered figures. I wanted to provide some photos of mine and say if there is more information i can provide about mine to help others let me know. So far i haven't seen any issues

    MVIMG_20200109_191132.jpg MVIMG_20200109_191141.jpg MVIMG_20200109_191151.jpg MVIMG_20200109_191208.jpg MVIMG_20200109_191223.jpg MVIMG_20200109_191944.jpg MVIMG_20200109_191953.jpg MVIMG_20200109_192009.jpg MVIMG_20200109_192019.jpg MVIMG_20200109_192038.jpg MVIMG_20200109_192106.jpg

Haven't fully transformed him yet as i am waiting to figure out what type of Lubrication on the joints i should use. I know people have mentioned shock oil. I believe i have some but it has to be 20+ years old. I was thinking motor oil but not sure how that would be with the plastic. I have loosened whatever screws i have found so far by a quarter turn. Also from what i can tell i think i got lucky don't see any major issues on him unless one of you can.

I bought two Hounds. One has two cracks in it. The other Hound is a perfect copy. I’ve been checking him all week and is still free of cracks. It’s going to be a lottery. Hope you win.

Actually, I don't think this is an accident. It's a an underestimated oversight.

Look at it like a bakery. They're getting pissed that someone keeps stealing their fresh bread. So to prevent this from happening, they start to prepare the dough in one location, then transfer it to a different location to finish baking it. Meanwhile, not knowing some of the dough from the 1st location had mold before it got to the 2nd location.

At the 2nd location, knowing they can't go back to the 1st location for a new batch of dough and knowing they'll be in trouble for not putting out what they have, finish baking all the bread.

The thief has been foiled but everyone who bought the bread is now at risk of food poisoning. In essence, a lot of unintended people got fucked over in an effort to foil a handful of people.

Now pretend this dough was green and the bread was Hound and Takara broke...bread.

While someone at Takara corporate probably thought this was a brilliant idea and worthy of a raise, they probably weren't ready for the visceral complaints soon after release. If a retailer in Japan not only states that this is a "widespread" issue, but went as far as to suggest fixes, that to me, tells me that Takara is well aware and a fix from them may not be coming soon(otherwise I think the retailer would've offered to take the unit back, send it to Takara themselves and wait for a fix or for a replacement from a guaranteed fixed batch).
