The Gamesmaster: My Life in the '80s Geek Culture Trenches with G.I. Joe, Dungeons & Dragons, and The Transformers Hardcover – June 9, 2020

The Gamesmaster is a narrative memoir chronicling the life and career of Flint Dille. And while he isn't exactly a household name, you almost certainly know his work--which includes credits from some of the most important and successful entertainment franchises throughout the world across the cartoon, film, video game, and comic book industries and beyond.
Dille started his career writing and producing Saturday morning television shows, including Transformers and G.I. Joe, while also writing interactive novels with Gary Gygax, the creator of Dungeons & Dragons. From there, he'd go on to work with the likes of Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Frank Miller, Jack Kirby, and a raft of others as a writer, story editor, show runner, and/or producer of iconic entertainment in almost every medium.

Dille's memoir is an entertaining blend of pop culture, social history, and reportage about the exciting, groundbreaking 1980s, and the parts he and his colleagues, collaborators, employers, and friends played in making it a genuine Golden Age.

Cool. I hope he does an audiobook version of this. I know he's not a voice actor, but he was great to listen to at TFcon. And this would probably be great to listen to in the car during my commute.

Flint Dille had a lot of influence on those of us in probably in that thirty five to forty five bracket. This might be a pretty cool read.

Oh cool, he's been talking about working on this on his FB page for awhile now.

It should be good, going off some of the stories he has (the fact he has so many is what prompted him to write a book)

I'll probably pick this up. He has been dropping tidbits from the book here and there on FB. Flint is like that cool uncle that some folks have, that has many interesting stories you can't help but listen to.

I had thought that this book was already news here somewhere, as it has been listed on Amazon for pre-order since February 2019, and has had it's release date pushed back twice already.... so don't rely too much on this third release date.

The book was first listed on Amazon in February 2019 with a release date of July 9th 2019.

Then in July 2019 it had its release date pushed back to March 10th 2020.

As recently as the end of November, the release date was still March 10th, so being pushed back to June 9th 2020 must have just happened in the last 6 weeks.

Just finished this book today...Its available early though Audible (I listened through HOOPLA via my local library). Really enjoyed the 1st hand POV account and some of the BTS stories Dille shared. Whimsical in parts but I would definitely recommend for JOE & TF fans.

Wow 2020 has been such a turd year it feels like it was only a few weeks ago that this thread was made and now here we are almost in July.

Looking forward to reading this, UK release appears to be July 30th but what's an extra couple of weeks.
