These look terrible. Too long, and as others have said, the muzzle flash makes no sense.

Just release effects similar to the official ones and I’ll buy dozens.

I fell this kit has the right idea of offering more effects parts for siege but its poorly executed.
It just isn't visually impressive enough.
The light beam should have a taper on one end. It just looks like a plastic straw.
And the flash effect is too simple and geometric compared to the Hasbro ones. It should be more organic in shape to add to the realism of the effect.

It still baffles me that no one has made any knock offs in the style of the Siege effects parts yet, since that's one of the things people like most about siege.
You could easily make up a bunch of cool different versions, colors and types that improve on the Hasbro ones and make a bunch of money.
Usually 3rd parties are right on top of this stuff. I don't know what they are waiting for.

Way too cartoony to match with the pre-established aesthetic of the officials. I love G1 as much as anybody, but this is getting out of hand. (now there are two of them).
Hopefully, this release means more are on the way, hopefully better than this, and I hate to say it, lazy waste of plastic.

Don\'t get me wrong, I like these effect type pieces, the question I have is are these made out of the same plastic thats causing damage to toys from the stickied PSA announcement in the toy disussion thread?

The likely holdup is that the projected profit margins for this sort of thing aren't high enough.

Glad you feel good you got to use it, but that didn't answer the question or contribute to anything intelligent about a legit question.

A lot of these add-on releases have been very lackluster. I think that the most disappointing part of third party add-ons in general is their refusal to remain in the style of the figure they are meant to embellish.

I realize that none of us have a window into the effort that went into these effect pieces, but they strike me as incredibly lazy. Simple can be good, but Siege does not have a simple design. Siege is noisy, textured, and rough. The official effects are extremely characterful, with all sorts of plasma bolts, lasers, and fire. They are not a narrow and lightly textured rod that is accompanied by an untextured four pointed star.

I'm not even fully behind the Siege aesthetic, but this design method has killed my interest in add-on kits. The market is just flooded with fiddly bits that may or may not even fit on your toy. Even if they do fit, they'll be jarrigly out of place visually. I really like the Siege effect parts, and getting some higher budget third party attempts would be right up my alley. These are not it, though, and I will be disappointed if the performance of this kit scares anyone away from stepping up to the plate.

I'm just playing around ;) , but no, the problem in the PSA is about rubberized parts in long term contact with plastic. We can't know anything about effect parts, 3rd Party or official until we store them for years touching plastic. Nothing modern has been affected.

Not quite accurate because theres been a few reports atleast of the Siege Effect parts causing damage to modern toys if they're left on them. I know I read of atleast one report where someone left an effect piece on their Siege Ultra Magnus gun for an extended amount of time and when they took it off, the silver paint on the gun was missing around the area where the effect part had touched it.

Paint rub perhaps? I probably am misinformed and look like an idiot now, but that smilie was too tempting for my feeble brain.

No offense taken or anything, I'm just saying, the problem does exist. Infact I went and searched in that PSA thread about it and found the post about the Ultra Magnus I just mentioned, he said he only had the effect piece on for THREE days and that happened. Another more modern figure thats having the issue is that Ghostbusters Ectotron figure where the hose thats made out of the same type of rubber is already starting to show some slight damage with where it touches the paint or something? So depending on what the 3rd Party groups are making their effect pieces out of, I'd be warry and cautious.

These part effects.. look.. awful.. I won't even sugar coat it. Not that I could do any better of course.. but.. to me, they look just ugly. At first glance I thought they were some cheap looking transparent energy mines or road spike things that look like jacks..? Yeah...

It's the plasticizer added to make the effect parts rubbery. I remember people discovering a similar issue about 10 years ago when the paint would melt off of GI Joe figures that had been stored in sandwich/storage baggies due to the additives added to the bags plastic to make them pliable.

Basically its the same phenomenon that's happening with the figures with rubbery treads like ROTF bludgeon, the thing is that it affects paint a LOT quicker than it does the plastic. It happens with fishing lures incredibly fast because of the amount of additive added to lures to make them wiggly, they will literally melt through plastic tackle box trays like a hot knife through butter if left alone long enough. Synthetic erasers have also been known to do something similar to pencil box's and mechanical pencils stored away over summer vacation.

It should be noted that heat plays a huge part in the reaction, my guess is that heat somehow causes the additive to off-gas much faster than it would in a cool environment.

Thanks for bringing that bit of science out for people to see. Though I will agree that heat certainly could play a part, the problem I have with that is a lot of people posting about the problems with the treads on ROTF Bludgeon and Demolisher molds.....some of them were actually stored in plastic air tight containers for years where I would think anyways there wasn't much exposure to heat? I have mine stored in one such, but haven't got around yet to digging it out and seeing if it affected mine or not.

...so you're saying don't store the effects parts in plastic Ziploc bags with other stuff?

Talking about the issues made me finally wanna dig out my ROTF Bludgeon. As I said this had been stored in a large plastic container under my bed for almost 10 years and probably only opened a handful of times because I have over 700 transformers in different containers, so some don't get opened or touched as much as others. I had it in tank mode and where the treads were touching, it looked nearly identical to pictures someone posted in that PSA thread where he had 3 versions of the mold (Bludgeon, Bonzaitron, and Gigatron) and all 3 of them had nearly the same problem. So ya, not saying heat isn't 100 percent ruled out, but its def not the cause with all these cases when I had it stored in an air tight container. Someone had just recently posted some pictures of their Demolisher they had stored in bot mod for years, and where the top wheel/tread was touching the figure, it nearly melted the "horns" off completely near the head.

I could be wrong and I'm no scientist, but leaving the effect pieces on the micro/battlemasters themselves I don't think causes any harm because most of those are plastic cast in that color, but not like "painted on"? Which seems to be the problem with the above figures being damaged because the rubber is touching the paint that was added on the plastic afterwords?

A discharge of excess energy as the ionized gases are expelled out of the nozzle.
