Yeah with 2 upgrade kits one of which vanished from the market. And then the fansproject replacement bots. Still want to swap to a normal colored vortex and Brawl but they are $$$

That’s from the hasbro FOC Grimlock.

This one comes with a Grimlock gun and red sword.

Robotoybase has him on sale for 17.90.

That’s where I just ordered mine from.

And I absolutely appreciate you for that XD

The sword is from the HasTak FoC Grimlock but the shield is from the Zenith Forge upgrade for the HasTak FoC Grimlock. The original shield only has a straight 5mm peg coming off the back, while the Zenith Forge one is a 5mm peg hole and comes with both a straight 5mm peg as well as a 5mm peg that bends at a 90 degree angle.

Ok guys... I need your help here...

I’ve been a MP only collector up to this point but I’ve reluctantly accepted the fact that I seriously need to downsize.

After seeing the posts in this thread I think I think that this is the way to go for me.

In your opinion(s), which company is best to start my collecting with? Which company has the best selection of products? I love the look of the NewAge seekers but am concerned about how things scale with each other...it’s not super important but I’d like carbots that are shorter than Prime who is in turn shorter than Ultra Magnus...seekers shorter than Dinobots...

I’d also like to keep everything G1-ish...not stylized or redesigned. I know, not picky or anything..haha.

Any help/ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance.

If you like the look of NA stuff, you might as well start with them. Their stuff scales well together.

From there you can add in stuff from other companies that fits in according to your scale preferences. Magic Square Toys has a number of figures--e.g. Ultra Magnus, Optimus Prime, Blaster--that work well with NA stuff IMO.

Either Iron Factory if you want IDW, or New Age / Magic Square if you want G1. Iron Factory has better coverage, but older releases are hard to find. Most New Age and Magic Square releases are still available. New Age is smaller than Magic square, but it's close enough that you can make it work. Mech Fans Toys also has good designs, but coverage is spotty, and they're bigger than Magic Square. There's not much overlap between NA and MS at the moment - I think just Cosmos, but that will be changing soon.

I have mostly NA, with DX9, MS, and Hasbro filling in blanks. Right now I have DX9 Prime and Seekers - I'm thinking of replacing with MS and NA, but haven't decided.

This is my blended legends G1 display. Iron Factory stuff is on a separate table.

    IMG_20200105_123933~2.jpg

    DX9:
    • Optimus (wouldn't mind upgrading to MS some day)
    • Dinobots
    • Blurr
    • Kup
    • Arcee

    MS:
    • Grapple
    • Blaster (on the bio bed)
    • Trailbreaker
    • Hoist
    • Huffer

    MFT:
    • Springer
    • Ultra Magnus
    • The big gap in the movie bots is for Rodimus Prime, not yet delivered

    NA:
    • Ironhide
    • Prowl
    • Jazz
    • Cosmos
    • Bumblebee

    MakeToys:
    • Seaspray
    • Powerglide

    Hasbro:
    • Beachcomber
    • Warpath
    • Roller
    • Jetfire (Cyberverse)
    • Wreckgar
    • Ark/Shuttle (Titanium)
    • Kremzeek

General rule of thumb is to go with NA for smaller bots and MS/DX9 for larger stuff. That way the sizes should most always work out. If you DO run into size issues, just separate them in the display. Like how I have NA Bumblebee on one end and MS Huffer on the other. It makes the difference less noticeable.

And don't be afraid to make use of Hasbro stuff. It won't make your other toys break.

That's Hot Soldiers Prime. He works well with the MFT releases.

Thanks, I actually just grabbed a used one from EBay for cheap using some eBay bucks. I have the DX9 Dinotbots, but this looks like a fun project to customize and put with my IF figures.

I think I’m going to try to rearrange and squeeze him on this shelf. Try a metallic paint color scheme.
