tx for the explanation. I knew someone would know more than I, but I was afraid Meekutron’s question would get buried before it was properly answered.

    thanks for stepping in.

    here 'ya go:
Omega Supreme (G1) - Transformers Wiki

...basically, after Tomy designed the toy it was licensed out & released in different parts of the world in 2 different color schemes:

    - the Hasbro Omega Supreme colors that we all know
    - Toybox's Mechabot-1 colors which were mostly gray/red/white without any yellow or orange (in UK, a company called Grandstand released this as "Omegatron", which is why most people now call this color version by that name)

(EDIT: guess I should've clicked to the next page before replying, looks like Max Tower above me also answered your question!) :)

Well there is a Purple Omega Supreme clone in one of the novels (Omega Sentinel) there is the Blue and White "Guardians" in the Cartoon episode "War Dawn" that is sort of similar to the MFT Blue one only with more white. Also there is a Blue and Red Omega Supreme toy sold in the Energon Line as "Omega Sentinel" The closest fictional version to the Black Omegatron colours is the evil Omega Supreme in the Shattered Glass Fun Pub fiction.

But in toy terms the Black and Red colours matches nicely some other MFT toys they made especially their Sky Stalker homage and their Black Sixshot as well as G2 Sideswipe..

I believe this is MFT re-packaging their product for different retail channels in the Asian market - basically, a version for grocers, etc.

Yes it's been out for months - the one that is hard to get is the supermarket one with no yellow on it.

Wasn't there an oversized ko of this teased at one point? Wonder if it will ever be made?

I remember some renders of that, wish that it would come out cause this is probably the best looking Omega that would fit my size sale (slightly larger then CW Devey, I think that was about the size of the OS KO)

There was a pic of a yellow prototype, that was said to be an oversized KO, but it never showed up anywhere after that.

I never got around to getting this guy. He's pretty high up there on my want list, but that price tag always slows me down at the last minute.

Me too, I don't really do "Legends" sized so these guys won't fit into my collection in anyway but I am beginning to come around to having separate figures that don't fit in but I still find really cool. I really want to pick up the Red/Black one since that is one of my favorite color schemes (enough that I am still considering getting two Siege Omegas just so I can make one into the red/black deco).

I'm still holding out for a CW sized version. He's the last one missing at that size class...

He's a tad too big and a bit too greebly (for me at least, and a CW Devey scaled Omega is exactly what I'm looking for).

Can't argue about the greebles... I wish I could get the perfectly round smoke effects off of him without scuffing it up, but eh... I think if he came with blast effects that looked like damage explosions instead of rocket engines, it might work a little better.
