this really looks good, i cant wait to have this guy at my home

 

It looks like they flip around on that vertical pin running down the middle. The windows are painted purple on the inside. You can see they end up above the back of the wing, just under the yellow paint app in space shuttle mode.

 

This is such a wierd toy objectively speaking when you think about it. Putting aside G1 accuracy for a moment, that shuttle is so odd with the blocky areas around the cockpit, the under wing 'kibble' (which is a toy design issue), and the overly purple train mode which honestly looks like kind of an unpainted toy since there is barely any colour breakup.
For sure G1 accurate and overall likely the best Astrottrain we have ever gotten...
Still, I kind of want a more realistic version of the shuttle and train while keeping that great bot mode.
Am I alone on this? I suspect not. I'm still getting this as what I've mentioned are semi nitpicks given the huge pros, but damn if I think there is a different/better astrotrain version in my head for me that I wish was real.

 

my guess would be he’s fifth in line after Hunk, Sheridan, Magnum and Iceman but we’ll see...

You're not alone, I liked Toyworld Evila Star alt modes back in the day because they were kind of realistic, though I wanted a more toon accurate bot. I think it still is a good option to display with toy accurate bots like XTB youth stunticons, MP36+, etc.

Anyway, this is the best Astrotrain right now hands down, so it will be purchased no matter the nitpicks.

 

No, I'm a bit of a FansToys mark so I haven't really given a look to other offerings. Mandela Effect I suppose.

Sounds like you want a "panda" version. Basically it replaces the grey with white and the purple with black.

Actually i like the Toon colour pallet. When it comes to any qualm I have with colours, it's just for train mode and how I wish there was a little more variety or breakup. Totally not G1 accurate to have it, but maybe some steel chrome or grey on the wheel spokes?
And yeah the other stuff is just the shuttle foreskin and under wing kibble haha, aahhh... def a gross way to describe it.
Seeing pictures and having it in hand is different though. I'm sure most of those issues will seem much less when being blown away when I can actually interact with it.

 

Without a doubt, my most anticipated figure in a very, very long time. One of my favorite toys and characters and a huge spot missing from my shelf. I really hope the QC is top notch and the transformation is involved but intuitive. More like Roadking and Spoiler.

 

Sounds like you'd appreciate my plan to paint a D51 model "as purple as possible, while still making real-life concessions to how a steam loco actually can/should be painted". Lots of purple, but nothing "utterly implausible in real life" like treads, piston rods, the suspension, and the hottest part of the smokebox....

It'll be kind of a toon/toy/real hybrid scheme. My "best interpretation of how a real-world Astrotrain would look".

 

At least this time they suggested the possibility early in the process, I feel there is value in that compared to Quietus-T and Sovereign-M

 

I have zero interest in the toy version.

 

I always thought that Astrotrain sounded like a strain of marijuana. Therefore, I'd like to see a version with long hair, a tie-dyed colour scheme and a CND logo on his chest.

Put me down for a toy version. I always loved that scheme as well as the toon.

Do we know if the toy chest plate is integrated or is it an extra accessory?
