Is it? I heard the transformation is pretty much par for the FT golf course: grueling. the transformation on this was pretty cool, which made it stand out for me.

 

Roadking is surprisingly pretty intuitive to transform. It's probably about as difficult as TE-01.

I mean, we've already got the silver version, now do a pure-toon one. And then go all out with the chrome and added tampo's for a G1 Toy look. And maybe a G2 toy deco.

As for my wishlist: just this guy in cell shaded version. As an example the recent Weijang cell shaded Mpp 10. Which isn't a camo look, but has stripes divided sparsely over the bot.

TE-01 is disqualified because it is released in 2019.  

I didn't vote, but if TE-01 lost, I would have voted for it.

I think the designers have to play a bit of guesswork here. Not all things that were white in the toon are supposed to be metal. I think XTB's most recent v2 Aegis is a perfect example of this. The arms and the shoulder cannons being white is nice but they also had the sense to keep the bumper and wheel hubs chrome. Means you get a nice toon accurate bot mode along with a nice realistic vehicle. A better option again is to have pop off components for things such as this.

TE-Primes dusty grey grill and smoke stacks I find worse. it's as if they know it's supposed to be metal but cheaped out anyway.

 

Exactly this. It's oversimplifying to say that white was always intended to be a substitute for metal, when many of the characters that had white parts also had lighter grey parts or shading that made it obvious those were the bits intended to be metal. Unless of course we're expected to believe Jazz and Wheeljack are supposed to be covered in chrome?

 

Is there a V4 coming out? And what will be the difference compared to V3? Or aren't there any pics yet?

I've got V3 and very happy with it.

 

Still nobody knows. when it will be out I will discover if I have to buy it to replace my amazing V2

 

All know for certain is it's at least a second batch of V3, but the running theory is they are gonna change the color of the hip skirt hinges to match the hip skirt plastic.

 

I would at once be thrilled that they finally fix that and dumbfounded that it was ever a thing to begin with.

 

I'm waiting for someone to recreate this scene.

 

Oh, to be sure, I'm not saying every white part was always metal. But gray? Almost always.

There's wiggle room on a lot of robot mode parts. But white smokestacks and gun barrels on a toy is just clearly not the intent, unless a part is obviously painted actual white in the cartoon. I always cringe when people say a gray Megatron is screen accurate - I mean, every close-up of the character has painted reflections all over him. When he doesn't, it's always a clear animation budget issue that shows up on long and medium shots. Also, real Walther P-38s aren't painted with flat gray primer at the factory.  

A little common sense, that's all I'm asking for.
