I just transformed mine back to Jeep mode for the first time, happy to report all parts are still holding up well without any breakage or cracking.

For best results, there is a very specific order in which parts need to be positioned. The instructions do a terrible job at describing this, but if one takes their time and evaluates how the different parts work in relationship to each other then the transformation can be done without stressing parts.

Examples are getting the fake wheels into position when transforming the legs back to vehicle mode (tilting things just right the parts have no trouble clearing the areas they need to), and that tailgate part with the wheel on it, which doesn't need to be pried away to a point of stressing. Just work the loading bed panel on the double hinge so that it clears the tab area, rather than trying to pry the tab around the larger piece. Hopefully that makes sense.

I'm still super pleased with Hound, and have even more appreciation for the engineering on this one after really taking some time to see how all the parts work together. It's clear that Hound was one of the more challenging characters to design and engineer (as mentioned in the 2020 Generations book's Hound feature), given the specifics needed for a realistic alt mode and a cartoon-accurate robot mode. The work they put into this resulted in an amazing Masterpiece.

I have not...maybe I’ll try it soon now that I’ve gotten his legs and feet all loosened up, though. For the time-being, I’m just enjoying the fact that he’s still in one piece...

Yeah, the more I mess with and transform this figure the more I love it - I do think it’s a genuinely great figure in both modes. However, so far I find myself loving it in *spite* of its transformation, which is also how I feel about MP-44, come to think of it, when my favourite MPs I love *because* of their transformation - Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, the Datsuns; and some have compromised robot modes that I love because the compromise is there for a fun transformation - the vanettes, Ultra Magnus, both Bumblebees.

I can’t stop looking at Hound in robot mode - with that smiling face he really is perfect - but all of those folding thin panels really remind me of a 3P transformation, whereas Takara always used to own the transformation. But hey, it’s one good figure with a few flaws; I suggest they make Jazz and show me how it’s done. :)

You beat me to the comparison pics. Braved the rainstorm yesterday and made a hasty purchase of Willis to decide which Hound I prefer best. MP-47's engineering and articulation is absolutely amazing, especially comparing that to Willis' 4 year old design. I do hope that TT does eventually come out with a toy/+ re-deco like they did with MP-36. The digibash that was posted here previously is what I really want.

    Haha fair enough.
Yeah, the fact that yours doesn't appear to have any QC issues is terrific. Enjoy the figure, man. He's such a stunner and a joy to pose :D

This exactly the issue with mine. The driver's side door feel off at the pin. No stress Mark's whatsoever, and extremely shiny like they tried to fix it w glue.

Here’s a tip: squeeze that jerrycan on the post until it clicks. Then you have the clearance to fold up the gun in the foot. It’s scary but it works.

Have not been updating on this. Has there been any reports about breakable pieces?

Yes. Simply put, anything might break...even before you touch it. Lol!?

On a serious note, there have been multiple reports of tight joints, cracked panels, cracked hinges, some misassembly and some paint defects. But, there have been quite a few people with good copies as well. It’s a luck of the draw situation, honestly.

I never expected the articulated humans to be so fun! Now I wish I picked up mp44 just to be able to make more autobot on human carnage scenes..

I know, right!? This Spike is the first Spike I found myself reaching for to throw in photos.

As has been espoused by other members, I’m quite fond of the idea of Hound mentoring Spike and teaching him about Transformers. Bumblebee is aight, but Hound and Spike always felt right.

Wasn't sure if you were making a joke showing Hound's butt crack or showing an actual crack untill I looked closer.

So I went over mine, transformed him back to Jeep then bot mode. Looking over every inch of him. testing the plastic as I went along and I don't understand how some are having theirs break so easy. I bent each piece with a bit of force, to test it, and it held up fine.

From the looks of the ones that have broken, or was broken right out of the box, the only conclusion I can come to is they were ham fisting the figures while putting them together. Maybe rushing? Like it was close to closing time and they wanted to get out of that place so rushed. That is why some are so messed up and others are completely fine. As I said, I checked every joint, every place that could have a crack or stressed out, and nothing in the end.

I am so sorry to those who have had such bad luck with this figure. I hope you get a good replacement, as this really is a great figure to mess about with and have in your collection.

Rushing is the best bet. They seem to have shoved Hound through production, possibly to keep up with Takara’s timetable for release.

That is what seems to make the most sense. I mean, it is possible some people were using to much force. But only time will tell. As we even have proof of cheap fixes from the factory instead of real repairs.

Really good transformation video IMHO (with commentary) from peolesdru (the guy on YouTube who does MP stop motion videos); Hound starts at about the 26 minute mark:

Well, I just finished transforming Hound for the first time and it was a mixed bag: the doors are super fragile no matter which way you cut it, the legs are genius (Megatron levels of awesomeness here), the front fenders are fear inducing, and the head's range of movement is lacking. He looks amazing, but this is not a bot I can see myself transforming much at all. I'll note that I used a hairdryer throughout my entire first transformation as the joints were just too stiff for how small/thin these parts are. In some ways I wonder if the matte paint had anything to do with this, but MP-18+ was the best that mold has seen sooooooo no quite sure on that.

While I'm beyond stoked to finally own a Hound (Never have had a G1 toy as a kid) I don't know how I feel about this MP.

    In short:

    Pros:
    • Alt mode is the best looking in the MP line
    • Bot mode looks amazing
    • Accessories are awesome, some of my favorites in the MP line
    Cons:
    • Plastic quality really seems lacking for the first time to me on a TT MP and at $160 for a carbot that's simply not acceptable.
    • I did have one split seam, but no major cracks on hinges like many others
    • I needed to use a hairdryer throughout the entire transformation, almost every joint was insanely stiff
Overall: Only buy this if you are a diehard G1 Hound fan and make sure you use a hairdryer and go through the transformation slowly and carefully. I took almost an hour while watching wotafa's review vid. I'll be taking some bot mode pics tomorrow when I have sunlight.

Just got my replacement Hound. After a careful transformation it seems that there are no cracked hinges.

I did notice some paint scuffs on his legs that I was able to remove with an eraser. A pin in his shoulder assembly was also misfired, making the wheel well misaligned. Luckily I still have my first figure and I swapped out the arm.

Production number is the same as before, I2619.
