It's too bad the factory fucked over this project, because aesthetically he's still the best companion piece to MP Sideswipe.

I bought one from BBTS a few months ago, I think is worth it at the sale price. For what they were originally asking is an absolute NEIN! And I agree is a good toy version of this character, shame about the quality of the materials and QC issues. I bought it to display it in alt mode, were it looks fine.

Spinout is a release that pretty much broke my heart. It was the only one that was faithful to the G1 toy design with regards to the car roof & windshield forming the bot's chest/torso. With a few design & engineering tweaks, this could've been an excellent MP style Sunstreaker. Better shoulder joints, neck design, chest that sat closer to the body, ratchet joints, paint, plastic, and sculpting tweaks, this could've blown away the BadCube release. Instead, the designer got shafted by Omnigonyx heavily cutting corners to cut down on production cost. Spinout had so much potential for greatness, and they blew it.

I have one, and he holds together fine. I guess I'm lucky.

I love mine. Sure, I had to do the fixes, but I love the aesthetic best of all 3 options. Worth all the extra work.

Got this guy in yesterday and honestly I think he is well worth the $35. My biggest complaints are that his shoulders are a tad loose and the tolerances on his head are way too tight to move it on the neck assembly

It's so clearly the right design produced by the wrong factory. (for those that are looking for MPs not toon-slavish)

    Tempted...so tempted...

Agreed, it’s a great design, there’s just a few quibbles with the design

Maybe if Yes Model could get a hold of the design.

I have one, and I have to say after you give it some TLC and make the time to do the few fixes to the chest, you have a pretty decent figure.. As was said before, the design of the character is bang on, but the execution of the factory that made it really dropped the ball..

Out of curiosity, what are the issues with the chest? I didn’t notice any on mine, but I was more focused on the horrible neck

Mine just would not stay tabbed in at the shoulder/chest connection..So I bought the add on part and swapped out the originals for the new parts and it stays tabbed together now.

Interesting, mine doesn’t seem to have that issue, granted I’m not really manipulating it much, more of a pose it and set it piece for me, but the connection seems fairly solid

Years after everyone, I finally found an Omnigonix. Nobody likes him but no one seems to be ready to sell it :p
I knew there were many QC issues. But all the QC issues in the world will still be better to my eyes than a fake windshield. And it's the only one doing that. Even Takara went for the sick way of cartoon accuracy.
And having it in hand, I can now say I'm happy. I love the transformation. It's intuitive, respect the altmode integration into the robot. No useless intricate movement to explode the car to match any animation model. Just the robot is the result of the transformation. A true transformer.

And aside from the chest, I just LOVE how the rear of the car is integrated on the back of the shoulders. So dynamic !!!

    IMG_1185-s.jpg

And I think it integrate better too with Sideswipe having a more realistic style.

I STILL, after all these years and all the persecution, like this figure a lot.

If this thing had been manufactured to the specs of its actual design it would have been a pretty great toy. Even with its flaws it had lots of good points.

Designer had kind of an attitude.

Wasn’t happy about the QC issues (good thing I never bought it). Wasn’t cool hearing about KFC’s “maybe” purposeful “sabotage” of the figure.

Funny to see this thread bumped though. Good on you guys who actually own/enjoy this figure though. The official figure, for me, killed both 3P attempts absolutely — so much so that I can’t even fathom any future attempt being “better” than the official.
