That looks like it cracked before it was painted.

 

Well got mine today. Shipping and toy Box looked like someone knuckle-punched it at some point during transit. Hound appears alright though and I'm going to let him sit overnight before transforming.

I'm almost tempted to just leave him in alt mode and keep Gundog as my Robot MP.

 

Definitely return it if it has cracks. These cost $130+ a pop. Hopefully, high returns/rejects will get TT to up their QC for future releases and re-releases. I have no issues returning MP-44 for a refund. Going to wait and see if the reissue fixes some of the QC issues with mp-44. Should not have to settle for defects.

Ohhh that would make a bit of sense. The other side was kind of like that but less pronounced, which is why I wasn't sure... but after remembering to look at the bottom (d'oh!) and seeing they're both cracked, yeah, I'd totally believe that.

 

Received and transformed mine with no problem, then came here and read about the breakages, I was lucky!
After replacing the default face, not good in my opinion, with a smily one I really like this Hound!

 

I just transgormed mine without any problems at all. Wotufa's videos are where it's at, even without knowing his language! I just searched YouTube and found them easily.

 

Got mine earlier today, and happy to report no breakages or issues. Transforming the shoulders is scary, but otherwise no issues.

The newer MPs do have me conflicted. The articulation, sculpt and paint are amazing on these guys, but the transformations are no fun at all for me. Complex and sometimes ingenious, but intuitive they are not. I've also not had any QC issues on any of the new toon-centric bots (Sunstreaker, Hound, Prime) but some scary moments during transformation.

 

Honestly, guys.

Seeing all these cracked-hinges issues, especially that one that was seemingly just painted over, my guess is that the factory(ies) making MP-47 is/are quite sub-par and are seemingly cheating on the final mfg/boxing processes by including units that should obviously be flagged as QC-rejects.

Would be interesting if the Japanese-fans are getting and complaining about these issues with MP-47.

How TT responds with these issues is anybody's guess right now...

 

Gotta agree with you here. I no longer own Willis, but he proudly stood on my shelf for years until just a few months ago. While pictures might not convey it, Hound is noticeably smaller, in hand, than Willis, especially in Jeep mode. While Hound might be roughly the same height, he is significantly smaller in other dimensions, resulting in a much more compact Jeep. Willis did look pretty ridiculous next to the cars in vehicle mode, but Hound, even if he is still a little too big, looks and feels much more "in scale".

 

Just got him and transformed him. There doesn't appear to be any issues with cracks at all. I'll post pictures soon. I'm not gonna lie, the transformation was scary as hell with the way folks have been reporting breaks. The material used in him does feel different from Sunstreaker, Prime and Megatron. I used Wotufa's video as well and had no problems. I made sure to just take my time. Right now I am pretty pleased.  

 

Got mine today. Transformed once so far with no issues or cracks. Painting is excellent.
I use to have FT Willis and between the two I like TT Hound more. It just has better cartoon accuracy, articulation and I hate to admit it but maybe durability (I transform some of my figures a lot). I just wish TT would have put die cast in the midsection joint and some where in the feet.

 

That may very well be the case with Amazon jp. However, we also have people buying from other Japanese retailers that have issues, not to mention the Chinese market. I think collectively a message can be sent.

 

I feel with this particular release, there are some very bad batches, but if you actually are lucky enough to avoid those, you'll have a good copy.

 

Will have to switch back to HLJ if that happens because AE customer service is nonexistent.

 

Same here. I rather pay $150 for a good copy than settle for a defective copy for $130. If it is defective back it goes.
