He looks good to me.

Which is why I'm buying 2 sets. Great combined Bruticus mode and individual robot mode. Destroys Zeta's effort to be certain.

So what's the deal with the different boxes? Are the ones without windows from PSX?

About to pull the trigger on Vortex and was just wondering.

Windowless boxes are for the Asian market [figures packed in bot mode], window-ed box with alt.mode is EU/USA markets. Kapow has the window-ed boxes.

Noticed you were looking for them in the UK earlier in the thread; Kapow has the two already out in stock, with the other 3 [and the upgrade set] on PO.

Otherwise, you could go direct from PSX. They are usually excellent at avoiding customs.

umm, which ever is the smallest box version (US vs Asian) is the better one to me... The Box of OM Azalea is PERFECTION!!! So damn small, so much easier to keep!!!

    Cheers bud.

Just got a windowless one for 70 quid all in on ebay which seems a bargain as Kapow are £90 + delivery. Fraudo is just under £80 on PSX so unless I see one in the marketplace first I think that's the cheapest route.

Not bothered about Onslaught and the upgrade set, sticking with Zeta for that part.

I agree--I'm nervous about Onslaught/Incursus after seeing that part of Paik's livestream. The promotional pictures of him look pretty good, but standing there next to Gravestone and Silverbolt, I'm really worried he can't put his poor arms down. I don't want to look at my Combaticons team and always think of Randy. The Blast Off looks more or less right on to me.

I'm getting this guy because I think he's the best Blast Off so far, but the fact that his shoulders sit below his chest really makes him look like a dumpy wimp. I'm hoping they can be adjusted to sit a bit above his torso to give him a tougher profile.

Definitely interested in this set for bot mode (I have Zeta's Bruticus), maybe occasionally alt, but bot mode for sure. Unless the combined mode blows me away, but these look much better in bot mode than Zeta's, so probably not.

This blastoff is clearly the weakest robot mode of the set. It's also clearly the best Blastoff option we've ever had. I don't think anybody will manage to do much better, so I will definitely get this and Phobos.

Incursus, on the other hand, is just too fucking big to work in my MP display as a stand-alone figure. It's significantly bigger than both the Zeta and FT leader-bots. I get that FT fandom has caused people to re-evaluate figures of that size (because when Zeta did it, EVERYBODY was like "THAT'S TOO BIG," and when FT did it people were like "it's perfect!"), but I'm not willing to go even bigger because that's definitely too large. I'm cool with using a second Zeta as my bot-mode 'Slaught.

Has anyone done comparisons with CHUG? I don’t really collect masterpiece scale anymore, but I’m super into the integrated gimmick

I was worried about size of onslaught as well but seeing him stand eye to eye with motor master and silverbolt has put my worries to rest.
Sure ideally these bots would be sized to match prime and megs but considering that these are the core of combiners, i think it makes sense that they are big

Meh, I actually like the size of om onslaught.

It's the fact they didn't taper the abs (or make them taper able like their Trailbreaker if that was possible) vs the hips that is really bad, like it's one looong whole piece, exactly like Paik mentioned before.

Then there is the really chubby forarms....

If those two aesthetics could have been worked, their onslaught would have been my #1, a real masterpiece, especially with the articulation it has, could rivaled their own Springer, if not top it. But I am sure it is way waaaaay too late for any serious change like that, and their must be some important reasons the Penguin master accepted these aesthetics choices for Onslaught, and also no basic ankle tilts for blast off...

I like the overall height too. Maybe if there was a way to adjust the position of his waist to make his torso shorter in bot mode?

But overall he works as a fine OnSlaught. :thumb

He's not tho? He's taller than FT's and XTB's Motormasters but not by so much he'd look out of place.

Roadking still has the deepest torso and thickest legs of all these toys too.

Arms needed to be thick enough to serve the truck cab and width of the combiner torso + its mechanisms. Torso needed to house the combiner chest plate and waist armor entirely, massive armor pieces, while also having an ab crunch.

Blastoff has two halves of a combiner fist in his legs, just like impetus. But unlike Impetus his leg transformation has to do things differently so it has far less space to work with internally, forcing tillts to be mid shin rather than above the toe. I already explained this to you several months ago fyi if you recall.

G1 Onslaught also looked like this:

And I've no idea why the animators made him so much slimmer. Plenty of chunky g1 toys translated to chunky g1 characters. MMC's seems to be the only Onslaught to truly evoke the original intent of the character design, right down to the block legs. I can see how Alex and Makoto wanted to deliberaely maintain that and focus the design of the toy around that silhouette.

Just as they did for the overall shape of MMC's Bruticus, that apparently still offends so many people.

    bruticus.jpg

More n more I've had to come to terms with the fact, what I want from TF design is apparently very different to what a lot of G1 collectors want and expect. From my perspective I see an audience clamoring for more of the same thing they already have and know, to insist on boring, uninteresting aesthetics and interpretations of classic designs when the entire original g1 toy line was all about strong variety due to its fundamental nature of being multiple toy types under one label.

At some point g1 fans just decided to forsake that origin, forsake that truth of what g1 was and seeing modern toys reflect it and then be met with ire is very depressing to me.

Or ppl simply like different things, after all G1 is not one simple thing or specific media. No need to take it personally.

Swindle and Vortex current big voyager sized, and the set gets bigger from there.

Yet there's added faux-shuttle-kibble to his bot mode----a tailfin on his back. Which is ironically directly related to my complaint about missing tail surfaces in alt-mode.

Clearly that's saying something about alt-mode vs bot-mode source importance, when effort and parts/molding are expended on making the bot-mode's faux tail section representation more accurate, yet the ACTUAL tail section of the shuttle is missing chunks.

Anyways----I don't think I completely buy that MMC couldn't figure out a way to have "half an engine" fold into each leg, as well as a simple 2D panel-flap. That it was an engineering issue. It's not like trying to hide half a semi-cab inside the leg like MP-44 does. Yeesh, Vortex has a fake windshield in his knees just to look right, and Swindle's bumper/headlights etc are all fake extra parts. But the ACTUAL upper engine for Blastoff couldn't exist?

Maybe since your customs are only for you it's easy to ignore criticism, but I think being irked at constant, constant, CONSTANT negativity directed at your work (especially when you're attempting to please said audience) is a valid response.

No one should be expected to react in a uniform way to things.
