He reviews way too few 3P transformers (and even official ones) to watch regularly. I watch him for entertainment instead. I like his method -- which has not failed him -- for finding diecast parts. :D

Neat thread! Ummm so Internet Personality Vangelus, even though he doesn't make quite so many reviews anymore, I find he looks at certain technical issues I'm always curious about and I still love his production quality and humor.

Peaugh because he's pretty damn good at going into details regarding transformations and technical details that Vangelus does, sometimes fan fixes and transformations and such, but I also appreciate his dry humor and goofiness.

Thew. Damn I love this guys enthusiasm and hey, who doesn't love dumb puns and a metal soundtrack along with Jon Bailey doing outro voice work. His KO Beatodown and his 10 Shots, 10 Bots videos are also GOLD.

Anyone else I watch is KINDA secondary to these guys as I mostly use anyone else for stuff these guys don't review or haven't gotten to yet. For that it's (in no particular order) Benscollectibles, Chefatron, Pixel Dan...but for the most part I'll usually just do a general search and see what several people say about a particular product which usually gives me channels I've never even heard of before, lol.

Bobby had been hit or miss for months on that show so there were plenty of episodes where his voice was absent. Some of them were very good, other episodes were weak. imho, Robert D had more of an impact on whether a show went well or not.
Regardless, it seems they forgot that bringing on/back someone who hasn't been there at all in at least 2-3 years (the entire time I'd been aware of and listening to SCU), during which time their listenership has grown/changed, without warning and without setting it up right, could be jarring.

Of all the reviewers, Jobby's improvement in editing is the most obvious to me. I remember being surprised when he showed the transformation for MP-44 Optimus Prime: instead of simply repeating the same movements or jump-cutting "now do the same for the other side", one shake of the bot magically transitions into the completed transformation sequence seamlessly.

Thew Adams: Certainly the more overtly entertaining reviewer. The simple and relatable enjoyment towards figures is great. And his structure is really set apart from others. He’ll have the two or more sections for the modes but then in between is sped up transformation footage over metal. They have an extremely interesting scripted quality. Each sentence clearly thought to be most exceptional with precise wordplay.

Vangelus: Great for the absolute action figure enthusiasm. I relate to him most with his intrigue in figure design and the need to create a particular form of descriptors in order to emphases how good something is really keeps the feeling of loving toys alive. He cares about them doing things. He’s actually reviewing stuff from a perspective of wanting good action figures. Not to suite his needs or that it does enough for him. He’ll denounce statues as not toys or FT Rouge because it’s design work is a mess, all in the holistic view of action figures.

His reviews are also extremely consumable as an almost kind of moving picture gallery. With his excellent sense of photography and posing under an excellently delivered voice over, especially over transformations. The cuts to real time posing have super real playtime vibes and he often describes what things are doing rather them just being fine or good and showing them. It’s a far more interesting display and gives more room for our inspection. And finally the subtitles are such a creative way to keep the content self reviewed without having to be perfect videos. Also his comment interactions are the best.

Jobby The Hong: The most comedy based reviewer I’ve seen. That’s really his vibe these days. Making great and enjoyable videos that happen to be reviews. And both aspects have been improving greatly. With the descriptions on transformations being much more interesting than just royalty free jazz for a couple minutes. The editing skills he presents and his comedic timing are an absolute blast. I don’t really agree with a lot of his opinions on the Takara stuff so I’m more into his other reviews. However he’s a simple but passionate man and I respect him greatly.

Other ones which I don’t have as much to say for:
Actar is really enjoyable with his delivery and presenting information. I just wish he made more transformers reviews. I still watch his other stuff but his MPM figure reviews are really great.

Paik is great cause he gets stuff early and sometimes does interviews. He’s not that great cause he brushes stuff quickly but he gets a lot of figures and reviews fairly quickly. In short he’s a great source for information.

Vangelus's channel makes me sad. I loved his content. His presentation was top notch. His editing was top notice. Everything was top notch. But his review schedule has become atrocious. You won't see any uploads from him for months sometimes, then when he finally posts something it'll be a like a card game or convention live stream or something. :(

Do you follow his twitter? If you don’t, you’ll be happy to know that he is wanting to improve his schedule. Heck he just put out two reviews in a row that’s pretty good. And he’s got a Megatron one lined up in January. But even if he doesn’t, sometimes he posts his figure thoughts with a bit of photography and videos up there as well.

So gotta vote for Tman978 for the smooth voice, relaxing to watch, and thorough reviews. Plus the 'click, click the videos, click those f*n videos' bit makes me laugh every, every time.

BSF adds a very good perspective on paint, sculpt, presence...and I never miss a sit-down Saturday or 4 dummies. Excellent stuff.

Thew when I feel like watching a cool friend chatting about Transformers the way I like to talk about Transformers. He is so much fun, every video has something entertaining.

Emgo to really see the details, and especially for transformation...he is so amazingly consistent and tight with his reviews, and easy to watch because of the way he frames and focuses in and points out joints, tabs, etc....TBH he is one of the most important reviewers for me for purchasing decisions because he displays them so clearly...

Ben is great, nice to watch, has insight, and great comparisons and a fresh perspective, especially the OG 4th party stuff

If you guys haven't checked out Michael Mercy's 80's museum channel, you're missing out...his reviews are really entertaining with lots of cartoon clips integrated...very well produced, thoughtful and written with precision.

Paik is fantastic, very connected to the community, expresses his opinions in a way "that I feel like I can choose to agree with or not", and does transformations both way...VERY helpful at times

I'm enjoying TM Reviews as well, he has a great MP-focus and has a good vibe on his channel, watching that as well

I watch Peaugh from time to time efficient reviews with no BS....and when Vangelus posts a TF review, I always click it...he's so entertaining.

There are lots more, but those are the majority I focus on. Yep, I watch too much Youtube...so glad these guys put in the effort to do this..it's not easy! I feel like if we even lost one or two, we'd be loosing a big part of the community.

Benscollectables, always delivers solid reviews without a ton of BS.
Peaugh, sets the standard for TF reviews.
These two dudes are tied for me on reliable content with a get down to business approach.
Paik4Life, also very reliable and quality content.
Emgo, more lax approach with an entertaining personality.
Bobbyskullface, I hardly ever agree with his opinions on the canon but that is what keeps me interested in TF fandom. Toy wise, pretty much spot on with what I expect from an honest person.
Kumastyle, enough said really. He has a unique style and varying interests from my own, which I also appreciate greatly.
Kato's Collection, another reviewer who has a firm grasp on what he likes and doesn't like. Also is building a reviewing micro community (Sardo & Rejecticons)) which aids in multiple prospective and conversation.
Dennis Moulton, an amazing reviewer for enthusiasm with an unabashed quality personality. He reviews the latest Hasbro offerings and has new content that most of the time I can't keep up with.
Cardboard Bots, very honorable mention for community interaction. Battle of the Losers!

Like what’s the deal with B-more and Transformers??? More than just a few fans from there that I’ve noticed??? Weird. Musta been something in the water there about 35 years ago huh?

I’m from there too btw. Count me in... and keep up the good work TMan978. Love your reviews. :thumb

I've come to realize that I have pretty different priorities than many of the more popular Youtube reviewers out there. I mostly focus on MP (official or 3rd party) figures, but I don't like to just display them in a DETOLF or something similar. Although I have major nostalgia for Transformers (watch the movie in theaters when I was 5), the draw for me today is the quality of the engineering and transformation (as an engineer myself). Even though I don't particularly care for Takara's super-toon aesthetic now, I will always prioritize engineering and transformation just as high, if not higher, than aesthetics and display quality.

For example, I definitely like the looks of MMC Backdraft more than MP33 Inferno, but the overall engineering of MP33 just astounds me. I like to transform MP33, MP27, and DX9 Carry all the time; they're just that enjoyable. Besides, I play with these figures with my two boys and I don't want to keep them in one mode for too long, just to shake things up. I'm also not a fan of Zeta toys since they only look good combined (in my opinion) and the super parts-forming is annoying when actually playing with these figures. On the same note, I tend to only want one figure for my favorite characters and absolutely do not want multiple figures to display in different modes.

That said, I find it difficult to find reviewers to watch that match up with my priorities. I actually am a huge fan of BSF's persona and reviewing style; I find him mostly mature and informative, and he's definitely no shill. Unfortunately, and by his own admission, he has completely different priorities than someone like me and he will gladly give up engineering and playability for paint quality, articulation and display "presence", which is why he seems to love FansToys and Zeta so much. FT generally check all those boxes after all. So I still like to watch his videos but unfortunately I seldom agree with his final thoughts.

I have the same thoughts with Tman978 and TMReviews. I think they're awesome and, once again, mature and thoughtful. Unfortunately (and I might be wrong) I think their priorities are more in line with BSF as he seems to value display and aesthetics more than engineering.

I appreciate Ben for all the reasons people have stated, but I do agree that he's overall too optimistic. That's not always a bad thing since it's clear he loves his hobby and is truly passionate, but at the same time, it's hard to get a good objective sense of pros and cons of whatever he's reviewing.

Unfortunately, I cannot stand emgo. I guess I can see why he's popular (considering Youtube viewer demographics) but he absolutely gets on my nerves. I know it doesn't matter and he won't change since it's working for him.
I also can't seem to trust reviewers that plug their sponsors too often (Optibotimus, Chosen Prime, ToyDojo etc) even if they have informative videos, because I know that whether intentional or not, they have more to gain by glossing over negatives in a figure since they can make money off of affiliate links or sponsorships.

When I see videos that review figures like FT Rouge, Jabber, Koot and don't mention how their transformations are a pain, I know that I need to move on. I also wish fewer reviewers would use a bright white background like optibotimus and peaugh.

My favorite reviewer right now is probably Paik4Life. His sensibilities seem closer to mine, he values engineering and playability in addition to aesthetics, and he has great transformation guides for both modes (or 3 for combiners). The only unfortunate thing is that he doesn't review as many figures as I'm interested in. I also like Bots and Bits for similar reasons - similar priorities, no BS, and he will be clear when things meet expectations or don't.

For entertainment purposes, I love Thew and Jobby, but I don't really watch them to decide whether I want to buy something. They're just funny as hell to watch :)

Any recommendations for a reviewer who is objective like BSF or B&B, values engineering and playability as much if not more than aesthetics like P4L and is as prolific as Ben? That would be perfect, haha :)

Oh and for lesser known reviewers, I really enjoy Michael Mercy's Transformers reviews, though he doesn't focus on Transformers or MP-style figures. He does a good job of bringing the history of the series into his review and edits his videos really well. Also like Death Review's shtick for some reason even though he hardly makes videos anymore.
