I really wanna know how many pre-orders they got. At the price they're asking, I really want to believe that they just received underwhelming numbers of preorders and so they've had to reevaluate their plans.

 

I know I have done fully paid off preorders for both the core bot and powermaster trailer. Not getting the 3rd part. But 100% want the first 2 components. I hope this gets made now.  

 

Well, I still won't pay the frankly stupid price that KFC is asking for this guy and I don't recommend anybody else do so either but if you really want him, get him at ShowZ. $307 for Optimus and the trailer as opposed to $350 elsewhere (and that $307 includes shipping) or $485 for the whole set as opposed to $550 elsewhere. Or there's toaboa which would probably be even cheaper.

A toy convention in shanghai in it's 11th yr.where most 3rd party tf companies based on asia(mainly china) shows their recent and new stuff

 

So is this guy just delayed or on hold now? As both parts "were" originally due to be released by the end of this month.

I also notice now that BBTS nolonger has a preorder for any part of this figure.

 

I read (earlier in this thread) that KFC's designer got 'burned out' and that what ever he was working on was put on hold. That's me paraphrasing what another poster had wrote. So... hopefully it will come to life again - I'd really like to see this come to fruition.

Sorry to bump this thread, but which sets will you have to purchase to end up with this figure? Is it all 3 sets 14, 15, and 16?

I checked the preorders at showz and I'm even more confused. I guess if I had any knowledge of the fiction that might help, but sadly, I have none.

 

Basically P-14 and P-15 form PMOP and all 3 combined make him PMOP with GodBomber armor. Fans Hobby achieved that with only 2 releases.

^ So that's what you're referring to as God Bomber? I thought he was called Ginrai? But like I said in the past, I know zero about TF's past season 3.

 

In the US comic fiction, it's Powermaster Optimus Prime and the human component is named Hi-Q. Optimus can combine with the trailer to form his larger form. In the Japanese continuity, the human component is named Ginrai and the truck and trailer are just kind of a mech body that he attaches to. Godbomber is a second trailer that gets dragged behind the main trailer (Godbomber doesn't exist in the US continuity). It converts into a separate robot or it can form armor that combines with Ginrai. Ginrai becomes "Super Ginrai" but I'm not sure if that's when he combines with his trailer or when he combines with it and Godbomber. It's all very confusing and kind of silly - no idea why the Japanese continuity thought they should take this robot that's obviously Optimus and decide that he's just a mech for some human to drive around.

For some reason I thought Powermaster Prime and Ginrai Prime were 2 different characters from 2 separate fictions. So they are the same character just with Godbomber armor added to.

 

The Japanese kept rolling with G1 longer than we did in the West, ignoring our short Season 4 and developing their own series. What happened in them is different than our Season 4, the Marvel comics, or the bios on the G1 toys. So what we know here as Powermaster Optimus Prime wasn't actually Optimus Prime in Japan. Instead, the Japanese series Super God Masterforce introduced us to a young Japanese fellow named Ginrai, who moved the the US and became a truck driver. One day Ginrai's truck broke down and he went to rent a cab from some place that was unknowingly storing a cab that was meant to be a new body for Optimus Prime. In the glovebox, Ginrai found a pair of Master Bracers. He put them on and couldn't take them off. Some Decepticons attacked, and as he tried to escape from the crushed cab he accidentally touched the bracelets together. This released is latent chokon power, covering him in armor and repairing the cab, which he then merged with to become... well, still Ginrai. But giant Optimus look-alike Ginrai.

In a later episode, Ginrai finds a trailer in a mountain. He combined with it to become Super Ginrai.

Some time later, the Decepticons sent their new weapon, Black Zarak, to Earth. To combat it Grand Maximus went to Earth to deliver specs for a drone, called Godbomber. While Godbomber had a robot mode, and could turn into a second trailer (albeit one with wings and a cockpit) that could be pulled by Ginrai, mostly what it did was combine with Super Ginrai to form God Ginrai.

So, how many purchases you have to make depends on what you want. P-14 is Ginrai, so you're getting a robot with a Powermaster engine that can turn into the truck cab. P-15 is the trailer, and it can combine with P-14 to make Super Ginrai. P-14 and 15 together are the KFC versions of what you'd have if you had Powermaster Optimus Prime as a kid, or what you'll get if you buy Fans Hobby's Power Baser. P-16 is Godbomber, and combines with both P-14 and 15 to make God Ginrai. God Ginrai is what's in your picture there.
