Still exists. He must have subconsciously remembered he had seen it in the past. Ultra Magnus is well known for having a smaller white robot.

Undecided. James Roberts has only ever showed us that he can write within an episodic format. God knows how he'd handle an ongoing narrative like the current continuity. I think he'd be great on a Galaxies book though.

Almost as if the primary media in the 80s, especially if you never owned the toys, didn't ever portray Magnus as the white cab.

Other things aside, it would be noce if your thread titles were worded a little better. “should James Roberts write Transformers again” is what you were asking, but the post of “James Roberts write Transformers again” misleads the reader into thinking this is news about James writing TFs.

(And to be honest I feel like this discussion has taken place a number of times in the last year or so anyway so this just feels like a redundant thread).

Too bad that didn’t happen where Anode mention something about having kids with Lug. I forgot which issue, but I believe it’s around issue 24-25.

Basically this. Roberts needs someone to keep him from going completely over the top. In moderation, he's fine-- early MTMTE still holds up great.

    ...What the hell, man?

I wish him and Nick Roche would write together again, LSoTW is still the best thing we got out of IDW TF if you ask me. Speaking of Roche, I'd love to see him do some Transformers stuff again. Writer, artist, co-writer, co-artist, I'd be good with either those options.

For honestly what? Because this might be otherwise one of the dumber things I have read here. And I've posted some of those dumb things.

No. He was out of ideas five years ago. Just leave him be.

The ‘should James Roberts write TFs again’ thread title was a little off putting for me. Personally, I began to dislike the terrible attempts at being funny and pro SJW, inclusivity, liberal political agenda rammed down your throat and interchangeable dialogue so much by the end of his last run I’d never hand over my money for a book of his. It would take a huge amount of good (to me) sounding feedback to get me to give it a go too. However, I loved some of his earlier work and think for a period at least TF was massively enriched by his writing. As I said though the title bothers me (I’m positive it’s in no way the OPs aim) it comes across should be allowed to write again. I don’t care how much I hated an author’s work I could never support them not being allowed to write!! I’m sure plenty of folks would love to see another Roberts book and were there enough to support a series I’d never have a problem with him writing a book they could choose to support if they wanted. So I guess for me the real question ought to be would there be enough people who would buy a new JR TF title and without knowing anything about it, the question is mute for the time being IMO

I don't know it's because those who followed and praised MTMTE/LL have already jumped ship and never come back to this forum, or something. But to me, Roberts wrote greater TF stories than a lot of writers out there.

Congratulations, you made a post that provided no information and provided a response that was equally as useless. If you edited the original post to add that in, either it was just a really badly told joke or you actually had a stance on the matter. Don't back pedal now.

    We'll agree to disagree.

Possibly. But if he did, I'd want the old Roberts back. The one who wrote Eugenesis, with its dark story and awesome character development and worldbuilding, not the Lost Light Roberts who really made everyone sound the same and spent more time on comedy than story. I mean that issue where they were all going stir crazy and got into a prank war? Yeah, no thanks.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Roberts is quite capable of writing in different tones and styles, and would voluntarily switch up again if he came back to Transformers. MTME/LL were deliberately envisaged as a certain kind of story.

I think he. Might be memory playing tricks on me But dont recall much humour in autocrity 1 and 2 and I enjoyed that Roberts more than early MTMTE even. For me his humour ‘or attempts at it’ as I found them so embarrassingly awful I can’t actually bring myself to all them humour or even close to funny that ruin his later work. In hindsight I actually think he only hit true greatness when in collaboration with nick Roche.

I do remember an early morning interview he he did for MTMTE when he said something like comics ought to be silly, funny and humorous and he’d never write something not like that. Perhaps he ought to have rethink on this one, Like I said though before if he I thought the stuff with the PC agenda and David Brent likes attempts to be funny were actually really good!

Still the best Transformers comic we had in years and since. Other Transformers books have been worse than MTMTE.

    Everyone sounds the same?

Are you really trying to tell me that Ultra Magnus, Rodimus, Whirl and Swerve has indistinguishable dialogue that you couldn’t tell who it belonged to if it wasn’t pictured with the speaker?

Towards the end? Kind of, yeah. Most of the characters just kind of turned into interchangeable smartasses.
