My daughter and I’s Christmas village for 2019. The gingerbread house was a lot of fun to build and every year this is when I have to convince myself that I don’t really want to get into modulars. Also can you tell that we got Disney plus and have been watching a lot of Rebels and The Freemaker adventures?
Do any of you guys have a Bricks and Minifigs near you, and if so do you know what the percent difference between store credit and cash? I've been in the one close to me a few times but keep forgetting to ask about that lol. Have a bunch of stuff I'd like to unload.
Went to a Lego store outside Tokyo and nabbed the Mandalorian and Sith Trooper battle packs. They had all the rest of the Star Wars 2020 wave but I settled on the battle packs to save on space (traveling with family and two dogs and it's a tight fit in the minivan already ).
I wish LEGO would stop relying on FedEx for their online deliveries. FedEx Claims they can get it there within a timely fashion, but an order 'shipped' on the 16th was meant to arrive before Christmas Eve, instead they don't even pick it up until the 23rd and then somehow sent it to my province first before sending it all the way to Edmonton International Airport, which makes no sense, because if it was at the destination sort facility by the 24th I would have received on the 24th. Case in point, an Amazon order shipped the 23rd via Canada Post, ARRIVED on the 24th without my being aware of it because I thought it'd get here on Friday. I was shocked, shocked I say. FedEx is a POS and LEGO should stop relying on it for quick efficient deliveries before the Holidays.
I do, want to say it’s more then half. It all comes down to time and effort vs money. If you are looking for cash, selling on a web site, or even just listing here is probably a better option. Don’t get me wrong they are a great chain, but they are a business and I would not expect more then 10% market value in cash if you are lucky.
I picked up all of the new Speed Champions at Target last week and built the Tributo today. It's a great build with lots of interesting layering going on. I'm most excited for the GTR but I'm saving that one for New Year Day.
I got the UCS Batmobile for Christmas plus the GWP Minifig scale one. This is my first UCS and it’s bloody incredible.
Lego uses FedEx in the US? I thought they relied on DHL worldwide. (or at least that's the case in Europe/UK)
I ended up getting multiples of the IW Hulkbuster and latest War Machine (Warbuster?). Could it be possible to give one set more articulation using the second set of each?
Yes, but with the joint pieces that they use expect elongated limbs. Your best bet would be to use Mixel joints or combinations. For my hulk/WM-busters shameless plug I used clips for the knees, and balljoints for all others:
How tough are the mixel joints? What is the amount of weight that the joints can handle? EDIT: I ask, because I am trying to build a mech, but am having a tough time.
Well, less than normal balljoints. If you're building a mech the same size as hulkbusters then mixel joints are suitable for wrists, elbows or ankles, perhaps even shoulder/arm if you're not gonna give them weapons. Putting them for knee/hips and it's gonna topple over. Balljoints and ratchet joints (which what those sets use for hips) are obviously stronger but bigger in size, especially the latter.
I had been to the original store up in OR years ago and loved the concept and wondered why they hadn't expanded, glad to see they have. They're good for finding older set but I gotta agree with kjyl, selling online via ebay, Facebook, forum boards, etc. is going to get you more than B&M, they're out to make a profit obviously.
I appreciate the feedback. Thing is, I'm not sure if ANYONE really wants what I'm out to get rid of, lol. A lot of the snake stuff from early Ninjago that a friend gave me for free years ago, among other things. If the store credit was decent I'd gladly trade in a bunch of the random stuff I have and consolidate it into one or two things I'd like from their selection.
