Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get the switch famicom controllers from japan? They’re almost half off right now on Nintendo’s Japanese site, but it doesn’t seem to be reflected in the eBay offerings. Thanks!

Stardew Valley 1.4 is out on Switch (and other consoles). Anyone else check it out? Lots of cool additions. It's really amazing how much ConcernedApe keeps giving us with this game.

Ys VIII is a great example of how something being on Switch is its own special feature and selling point in and of itself. I could have played an objectively (technically, that is) superior version on any other platform I own. But I got it for Switch today simply because, I want to be able to play it on the go, and it's really fun.

Also, I really love the game's map system and UI.

Re: the map, it's a small thing, in a kind of run of the mill, unremarkable JRPG. But the way the map tracks everywhere you go (in a more temporary, watered down version of what BotW does after that map update, sort of) and tells you which entrance you last came through at a glance, is really smart and something most games don't do. Especially JRPGs.

And just the entire gameplay loop and UI are really easy to manage and fun, too. I can also say if you've never played a Ys game (as I had not prior to this,) this is a great one to hop into it. It feels slightly in medias res, but it's totally self-contained and explains itself so fully it could easily have been Ys 1 and I wouldn't have known better.

It's my "meaty JRPG to play and replay via NG+ until the Xenoblade remaster comes out" game for the holidays lol.

I remember trying to decide on getting either Ys VIII, Final Fantasy XII or Tales of Vesperia. Ended up finding both FF XII and Tales on sale, so I bought both of them and thought Ys would be next in line. Beat both games and ended up buying Hollow Knight cause it was on sale. After Hollow Knight, a whole bunch of games came out and I got a long list of games cutting in front of Ys. One day, maybe I'll just buy Ys just to have it and force me to play it.

This would be a boxset with no downloads. It bugs me that MMLC2 and XLC2 are downloads for the Switch but not for the other 2 consoles. Its the only reason I've not gotten the Classic Collections for Switch. I already own MMLC1 for the 2DS.

Just wondering what everyone's feelings are on Starlink. I bought it thinking it would be a semi-mindless shooter - something like the old N64 Rogue Squadron games. But instead it seems to be this complicated RPG hybrid with lots of requirements to upgrade and customize your ship for each mission etc. That's not what I want - I just want to fly around and blow shit up. Does it get better? Or, closer to what I want? Can anyone recommend a game more like what I want?

Honestly, it felt like all open world games to me: big on time consumption, low on meaningful and/or unique content. It's been a while since I played it, but I don't think the ground-based content really improves. Space-based I think it got a little bit better. However, there's a lot of repetitive stuff in the game.

I will say that once you get a couple of weapon setups figured out/upgraded, it gets pretty easy to just do the fights from what I remember.

I don't think it was really a bad game so to speak, but it's not that great either. Not sure I can recommend any specific games more in line with your tastes/desires.

Do you have to buy that Starlink bundle with the Arwing toy/thing to play the game?

Oh nice, thanks. I was thinking about downloading the game, but I was afraid it would require me to go out and get the set.

nope, arguably the digital switch version is the best value for the game because it gives you the most content (i think you get an extra ship vs the physical version)

There's a big Nintendo Eshop sale going on and even though I already have games I bought just waiting to be played, I see games I'm interested in buying at the sales price.
Final Fantasy VII for $9.59 and VIII for $13.39 to complete my Final Fantasy Switch collection.
    Ghostbusters for $17.99
    Monster Boy for $19.99
    Axiom Verge for $7.99

I also see Collection of Mana for $19.99 at the Eshop and Amazon and Best Buy.

Honestly, might just have to get FF VIII at least. It's the only older FF game I never beat........but my backlog is already bigger than I want!
