The problem with screen-accurate BM toys is that they would be almost impossible to transform into their alt-modes because of how they transformed in the show. There’s just no way that someone like Optimus Primal or even Jetstorm would be able to have both their modes be convincing.

much as the series hasn't aged well i think it would be cool to see someone try and adapt the designs once again.

I'd be down for a Silverbolt done right if nothing else.

Have you seen some of the bay movie 3Ps? Hot Rod was sick and now that triple changer. Then the fabled Zeta Unicron... I have faith in a new BM line.

Yes, I have. And there’s a bit of a difference between Earth vehicles and technorganic animals who transform by changing their molecular structure into a different form.

I guess. I'm just pointing out that transformations have become quite intricate and I don't believe its beyond designers to get close. The Hasbro figures in the late 90's were pretty close already. Be pessimistic if you like but I carry the Matrix in my heart.

Best toy in the line, fond memories of him. (Well, Night Viper was pretty awesome too). Hilarious how the smaller, cheap ones were way better than the ginormous light+sound+firing missile gimmick-formers from the line were...

Oh, I agree with you, at least about 3P engineering. Barring any unforeseen major QC issues, some of the things being designed are nothing short of amazing. But I just don’t see Hasbro succeeding in making BM MPs that recreate both modes exactly. Tankor, possibly.

A lot of the BM figures are great already - release them with accurate decos, sizes and minor articulation tweaks and they'd be perfectly acceptable.

I struck out the stuff that's irrelevant to toys. The show actually did toy designers a favor by omitting the in-between steps for TFing so anybody that wants to try just has to match up the Start and End and can get between them in any manner they can get to work. It just doesn't look like many have picked up the challenge in the belief it's not worth their monetary effort.

My fave will always be plain, simple first-wave Basic Insecticon. His spring-loaded auto-TFing sucks (and I took the spring out of all the ones I've gotten), but after skipping Gen2 to know TFs had actually become full-on action figures with significant poseability I'll never forget opening that little bastard up and shitting pants at how playable he was in both modes.

    Plus: 2part ass-crossbow!

The TransMetals series were pretty much perfect and just needed better chromey paint. I'd shit bricks if they redid TM Rhinox with a waist swivel; since that's all he lacks at all.

I kind of enjoyed Beast Machines. It was the last cartoon series I actually could bear to watch. They started to skew to far towards the younger audience after that (while I was well past young approaching middle age). In hindsight the environmentalism was a little preachy but we get a lot worse in TV and Movies today. I enjoyed the characters, I liked how it mainly stuck to that idea of a small band of intrepid heroes being overrun by hordes of bad guys, which was always a fun pun on “guerrilla warfare”.
I probably wouldn’t be a huge collector of BM toys but a good Prime(al) and Megatron always attract my notice.
For now, I have a well painted custom of the Air Attack Primal I got from a seller on TaoBao, and I’ve popped the legs off a Megatron Megabolt which needs painting into a Grand Mal (I love the proper Grand Mal deco of this mould but I’ve been unable to source the MegaHead version anywhere).
Both are surprisingly decent takes on the characters, though wildly out of scale with each other.

A good diagnostic drone or a Caped Megatron or even a decent Savage Noble would be of interest.

Not sure why you think it’s irrelevant. If a TF cartoon showed a human transforming into a car by the same method the technorganics did in BM, there’s no way a Masterpiece toy could pull that off because the character models in the show are two completely different forms that were not meant to go together as the same toy, not without severely compromising one mode for the other.

I have no idea why you think 'pulling my limbs into a glowing ball and extruding wings' is something anybody actually believes is a transformation that can or *should* be attempted in a toy. IGNORE THAT NONSENSE AND THE 'NEED' FOR IT. I also don't really see a whole lot of concern in TF fans generally for accurate transformation 'sequences' so long that the bot and altmodes are good. There's a shit-ton more concern that transformations be functional and fun than accurate, imho.

You’re completely missing the point. If the character models were never intended to transform the way a toy of them would transform, then any toy of that character would not be able to pull off the transformation and have both modes be accurate to what’s shown on screen. The characters we saw in BW were based on their toys, especially the Transmetals. That’s why they look so screen-accurate. In contrast, BM toys were nowhere near as screen-accurate because the designs came first and the toys came later.

Your logic is a little Monty Python there. A good designer may surprise everyone.

bayverse figures would like to say hello (many of the early designs especially were done without hasbro input and now both hasbro and 3p have been able to do relatively screen accurate interpretations of most movie characters)

    Maximals No, Vehicons Yes.
Look at them. They were the epitome of terminator arm-so that's why Nightscream is compared to John Connor!

Lol, I don't understand why there's people in the world who are such nay sayers that they shit on the possibility of toys of all things. I'm not sure if you guys are expecting perfection in all things but if they can exceed the official figures of 20 years ago, I think I'll be fine. I hope everyone and their expectations the best though.
