Haven't there been other movies where they filmed two separate movies and then did a test screening and went with the one that rated higher?

Originated from 4chan, but it was the same person who leaked the footage. I believe that it is not stated outright, just very very heavily implied.

Didn't one of the early leaks also heavily imply it? IRRC
I believe there was mention that Lando had been on a mission with Luke or something and his kids were with them and they were stolen during the mission.
I distinctly remember some nonsense like that in one of the leaks I read.

Yep, and that's why he says that he feels like a failure. Because we can't have one OT hero not end up as one.

Been reading early reactions on Reddit and they all say this isn't the case.

But yeah 98% of the leaks were spot on.

It’s only implied. Lando laments that the FO were kidnapping kids of rebellion heroes and training them as Stormtroopers. Says that it happened to his kids.

I think that it is something that most people might not picked up on, like the fact that Rey flew ships before TFA.

TBH, I doubt in Lucas not being invited. It'd be a media suicide for Disney. More like he didn't want to go.

It was pretty much apparent by many of the guests last night, of all the major SW names he was no show.

Totally not surprised that the Sequel Trainwreck couldn't leave Lando untouched.

What was this New Republic for, if kidnappings went as soon as twenty-something years before TFA started?

The fun part is that the premiere was precisely for the people of whom Disney knew that they already like and are invested in Kennedy Wars and if even amongst this kind of selected crowd there are any mixed reviews...

...It's going to be wonderful when it opens for the general audience.

Lucas has emotionally checked out on this disaster; all Disney has left to depend on at this point is brand dependence of the most hardcore fans who have made Star Wars too important a part of their identity to walk away from it.

So, I've been reading some of the spoilers and this movie is going to be hard to sit through, especially if the audience is loud and reactive to certain scenes.

At this point, I'm just interested in seeing what happens to Finn and from what I hear, nothing happens to Finn. Like, his story apparently didn't get a proper conclusion and that about sums up the Sequel Trilogy's treatment of his character. Yeah, real progressive, Disney.

Then there's happens with Rey- Goddamn it, Abrams. I expected better of you based on how you handled it in the Force Awakens but nope, Rey gets kissed by her metaphorical rapist and it's just- blargh! Argh! Gah!

To anyone who thinks I'm just exaggerating or reading too much into it or something, here:
"After the movie Daniel [Fleetwood] and I were able to give our reviews to JJ himself over the phone! Daniel was so funny and honest, and he did love the movie! One review he told JJ was: When Kylo is trying to use the force to read Reys mind, Daniel was drifting in and out and thought it was a rape scene in his mind. Turns out he was awake enough, he told JJ it seemed like a rape scene! I was mortified and apologized to JJ cause I didn't get a sexual rape feel; turns out Daniel knew what he was talking about even with all that medication he was on, JJ said, well he is right, it is a violent mind rape. After talking with JJ Abrams they packed up and went back to California." - How They Put The Force into the Design of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (SPOILER ALERT)

Geez, going by these reactions it seems that Fallen Order is the best Star Wars story this year.

Need to watch this later, but...

I read Dark Empire for the first time this weekend. It was quite the trip. Luke doing a force projection, facing off AT-ATs on foot, turning towards the dark side for basically the opposite reason Anakin did, naked young Palpatine (gah!), Jedi Leia, ginormous probe droids, the basis for that one level in Rogue Squadron 64, strangly colored watercolors...
It's pretty dumb, but also kinda amazing.

The Dark Empire. Yeah, it wasn't exactly the best received story. It's not, to this day.

It really takes Abrams to take this as his inspiration.

Haven't watched this. But I did sit down and try hard to reread Dark Empire, which I did read back in the 90's. And I just couldn't do it. It's a trainwreck almost immediately from the start.
