Shipping alone is probably at least $50 for anyone that buys $20. I would think you'd have to scalp them for msrp basically on eBay to make it worth while for the seller. I dunno. Sweet deal for locals though.

So, I'd have to drive through ice & snow, spending more than the 20 in gas, to PA on a hope I can find what I wanted? Wonder if they would take more Unicron Preorders just to piss off that whole group of peeps....

I'm in Ohio about an hour from the border and Google still shows it would be a 5 hour trip

For those in the Mid West Thursday and Friday will be the LAST Santa Bucks days at Meijer. This means you get 3 dollars off Deluxes, 5 dollars off voyagers, 10 dollars off Leaders, and 15 dollars off Jetfire.

Well that pretty much proves Hasbro is only paying $20 for Omega Supreme. Screw them for doing this and expecting people to pay $160 retail.
Feeding Ebay scalpers is the worst crime a company can be guilty of.

I drive near Carlisle all the time, just not today.

I'm not sure how many times I have to post this, but this is 100% incorrect. I was there.

The Omegas being sold were damaged stock, and so claimed as a loss. They were sold for $20 because they were going to discard them anyway.

Half of the pallets there were earmarked for donation to Toys for Tots, and the other half was for sale.

The price at this event had zero to do with cost/profit.

Most retail products are much cheaper than the price you pay to manufacture.

A break even restaurant typically pays 20%-30% of what YOU pay for the food. Because they have water bills, electricity, storage costs, and labor among other things.

Hasbro could be selling these $20 figures at a partial loss and probably is but even if they cost Hasbro $20, distribution costs money and retailers expect to make money.

On a $5 comic, Marvel probably only sees around $1 which has to go to paying people and servicing the cost of capital used to produce the things, which includes probably $10k in creative talent costs alone (not that much split between five people).

You won’t find many people less sympathetic to legitimately exploitative financial practices than me but, trust me, most stuff has to sell for more than 5-10x the basic manufacturing costs or you’d have people starving or the stuff just wouldn’t get made.

It’s generally the case though that after selling a bunch of units, you cover your fixed costs and can sell surplus inventory for less.
