No spoilers, just a simple question:
If people didn't like TLJ, will they like this one? (Heck, if they did like TLJ, will they like this one?)

Head for the spoilers to the dedicated topic on this very subforum. They were all confirmed to be true.

All I gonna say is that the movie is very unlikely to be anything amazing. Initial reviews aren't praising it.

    Arthur Christmas - 9/10

I can't believe it came out in 2011, it really feels like an underrated modern classic IMO. Especially love the joy and charm and even it's message about how it doesn't matter how you deliver a gift, Santa came, keeping that christmas spirit alive.

Also great voice work from James McAvoy, Hugh Laurie, Bill Nighy and Jim Broadbent as well.

    The Irishman - 6/10
It was enjoyable watching De Niro, Pacino and Pesci together again, and the acting is all great, but overall I found the characters and story uninteresting - which made it a frustrating watch because the acting, directing, cinematography, sets, everything else was so good. I just didn't care what was happening and didn't care about any of the characters. Yes I know it's based on real(ish) events. The title of the film should have been Peggy's Judgmental Stare.

    Marriage Story - 9/10
Perfect mix of interesting characters, engaging story and wonderful acting. I went into it thinking I'd get bored but it held me from start to finish. This is the first thing I've seen Adam Driver in outside of Star Wars so it was great to see how awesome of an actor he is. Will definitely watch this one again.

Grab Logan Lucky, Driver is in that and he’s pretty good. And the movie is pretty awesome.

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi - 6/10

I rewatched this in preparation for Rise of Skywalker. I didn't feel the need to rewatch any of the others, because I've seen them so many times (some within the past year even). I haven't seen this since it was initially released on home video, making this about the fourth time I've seen it total.

Despite not really liking this movie, I'm glad I rewatched it. I picked up on a few details that I missed the other times. For instance, I noticed there was a quick scene of Luke reconnecting with the Force. That makes so much more sense when he uses the Force to catch himself when fighting with Rey. I always saw that as an error before. There's a lot of subtle stuff packed into this movie, and you almost need multiple watches to digest it all. There is some good cinematography and visuals. I love some of the ideas here, like seeing the same story told from different perspectives. And Mark Hamill's performance is fantastic.

But for me the bad stuff puts a pretty major dent in my enjoyment of it. At this point it's all been complained about. The awkward tone-deaf humor. The long Canto Bight subplot. Holdo not telling anyone her plan for plot convenience. "Not fighting what we hate, saving what we love" The pacing. The constant subversions that aren't as clever as the filmmakers seem to think. When I first stated watching it, I thought "maybe this isn't as bad as I remember". And then the stupid stuff started. By the end, I was just kind of bored. If this movie had gone through one or two more rewrites to tighten it up, and had been edited down a bit, I think I'd enjoy it quite a bit more. It could even be the best of the Disney-era films. But it's so clunky and even cringeworthy at times. I mean, I was chuckling at multiple scenes that were supposed to be dramatic. Overall it's possibly the least-rewatchable film in the Saga.

Is The Last Jedi as bad as some people make it out to be? Heck no. There is some solid craft here. For all intents and purposes, it's probably technically better than the prequels (although I prefer at least two of them on a personal level). I'll skip a recommendation, because anyone who cares about seeing it probably already has. I guess we'll find out how Episode 9 compares in a couple days.

Pretty much my feelings about it. Half of the movie's substance is Johnson almost getting somewhere. But the other half is how much the movie needed to be polished and tightened up.

    Grandma's Boy - 2 out of 10.

I had heard from some friends years ago that I should watch this, so I finally did. A few laughs here and there (mainly at the beginning), but overall, this was incredibly stupid. Which would be fine if it was actually well paced and fun, but there are so many things that add nothing to this movie that are just boring and redundant, like so much in the stupid party they have at the main character's house.

I don't know. I'm admittedly much more lenient to action flicks than I am to comedies, because even most "bad" action flicks still have their share of cool moments and scenes at least (Although I think Godzilla: King of the Monsters was my least favorite film I saw in theaters this year easily, and one of my least favorite big budget action films this decade). Lame comedies are just lame, period.

    Miracle on 34th Street: 8.5/10

Watched it with the kids last night. A classic. Who would have thought the guy behind Jurassic Park was also Santa?? That said, I kinda hope they do another remake and that we actually see Kringle doing his Santa job at the end of the movie.

    Jumanji (1995) - 9/10

Really friggin good. I never saw it until now but man it surprised me a bit cause i expected the kids to get sucked into the game, not the game coming out into the real world.
