UPDATE 12/15/2019- This thing has been done for quite some time now, and as I move into commissioning for a head and repro stickers I realized I should share the artwork with my fellow fans. No such thing as TOO MUCH ANIMATED. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey all, just posting this WIP up here while I take a break from working on it. I currently cannot afford photoshop so I've been using pixlr editor online. Gets the job done, if not necessarily cleanly... does anyone have suggestions for cleaning up the white pixels left behind when I fill color? Anyways, this is a concept to convert the Shadow Blade Megatron toy into The Fallen. Unlike my previous Roadbuster project (see sig) this one would rely heavily on Reprolabels for the body; I've got someone lined up to design these stickers for me, just have to figure out how I'm going to come up with the commission money! I'm also currently shopping around for a 3D artist to work alongside for a replacement head. The current concept as you can see in the corner is based on Derrick J Wyatt's pencil sketch of a TFA Fallen he did quite some time ago. Thoughts?
Interesting idea! What would be your plan for covering up the Decepticon button on the figure's chest? Are you going to leave it as is or find someway to remove it?
Honestly? Stickers, haha. It would just be a Decepticon logo-shaped protrusion on the chest covered by the custom reprolabels to evoke the design above. It's not perfect, but I'd rather not compromise the integrity of the original toy, especially for the hardcore customizers who would manage to retain the original lights and sounds of the toy when swapping heads (what's great about the voice chip on this mold is that it's not character-specific, he never states that he's Megatron!).
very cool, an interesting idea. What would be helicopter backpack look like? Interesting take on the Fallen, a deviation from the usual black, red, and flames we see
It's going to look the same as it would on Megatron. The idea here isn't to fix what isn't broken, but to do only subtle changes that ultimately make this Leader-sized toy mold into a completely different character than intended. I definitely don't mean to shill when I direct people here, but check out the Roadbuster project in my sig for an example of this.
