I'm gonna keep this one sort of brief considering its just a repaint of Siege Ironhide with a new head; so here's Siege Crosshairs. I'll admit that I don't have much love for the original release of this mold, but I really like this version. This new head sculpt is excellent and I love the Titans Return style tampos on the legs. And for those curious: the panels that popped off so easily on Ironhide's legs seem to have been fixed.


Originally released in 1987, Crosshairs is one of those late g1 guys that often gets overlooked, though his name has been used in the movies for a green sports car dude.



Articulation:
90 degree elbows and knees, wrists, ankle tilts, ball jointed neck; standard stuff everywhere else.


Weapon:
In g1, Crosshairs was an autobot targetmaster. Here the targetmaster was dropped and he has the same weapon given to Ironhide: missile launcher that converts to a hammer. Not gonna lie, its awkward as all hell. The placement of the handles make it difficult to hold naturally. Despite this he can carry the weapon under an arm in a way that looks good and I am surprised that he can hold the hammer with both hands.


Alt-mode:
His g1 altmode was some sort of cybertronian dune buggy mixed with a van, so this isn't too much of a stretch I suppose. Still not as accurate as I'd have liked, but its fine. Wish it had the bumper and shoulders from Ratchet.


Conclusion:
I won't be surprised if most people skip him, but I really like him. The head sculpt is really wonderful. admittedly, I really would have preferred if they used the Ratchet shoulders and bumper (anyone want to trade a ratchet bumper?), but I dig it the way it is.

If you didn't like the Ironhide version, I'm not sure this would fix your opinion, but it might. It definitely changed my mind on the mold, much like ratchet. The new head's size really improves the overall proportions, though the hips and waist are still proportionally odd.

I skipped Ironhide and bought Ratchet. I'm thinking if I didn't have Ratchet I'd have grabbed this guy. Good review, and he looks nice.

I’m in the same boat. I hoped for new molds for these three because I never had the originals. After IH and R, I’m burned out on the mold.

 

I like this version a lot more than Ironhide/Ratchet. Getting him ASAP, although I wouldn't be opposed to a toy head Shapeways kit or something.

 

How much of an ordeal would it be to paint the white parts on the autobot Gun Battlemaster red?

 

Mine shipped today along with studio soundwave. Cant wait for this guy

If you have a Ratchet figure you can swap their fists to give Crosshairs the white ones he had in the cartoon. It also has the benefit of breaking up Ratchet's color scheme a bit.

 

Never had the Ironhide mold since I'm sticking with the Classics versions.

I like Crosshairs. If there's an upgrade for the wheels, I'm down for that.

For the Targetmaster, I passed on LG Windblade back then and def not paying the premium now for a figure I don't care for.

Accidentally bought 2 of these so I'm gonna make a custom nemesis ironhide

 

Here's Crosshairs with Battle Master Trenchfoot from the Alphastrike set. Supposedly he's meant to be Pinpointer in the WFC line. I bought him loose on eBay.

 

I don't own Ironhide, don't dislike the mold but not sure about Ironhide color scheme. I think Crosshairs looks better and combine him with Sixgun will be a lot of fun.
