Well on the Aerialbots the main wings get drawn small on the legs, and the tail planes get drawn huge on the backpack. So it makes for easier engineering to just use the big wings as big wings and the small wings as small wings.

Bad news for me. Preordered mine with one*day_bid and asked him when his were coming in, as these seem to be showing up at a lot of places now, and he tells me beginning of February! Won’t be using him again!

Yeah I noticed. I tried to clarify my position on the topic. I just got my invoice on Goose, so that's great. At the moment I'm thinking: let's not mess with his engineering too much in order not to screw up the combined mode.

And so here I am looking through page 1 and I don't see Iceman in a pose with a waist swivel either. Curious.

Sorry for the bad pictures, I know I'm not good at this.

Here are some more pics. First as Tigerblade pointed out bot mode with Zeta's nose up. Also a top down shot of the backpacks (not a good one, but my limit). I also left one of Goose's wings out, just something you can do if you prefer (the other side was in the way). I know some people hate static poses, but I feel they give the most honest direct comparison when articulation is not what is being compared.

For jet mode I couldn't figure out how to get FT's front landing gear out and putting Zeta's away was too much work and I gave up. Just used the edge of the laptop to work around it.

Finally I did a couple real quick with Maverick and TW Dirge (in case anyone doesn't know the TW coneheads were normal seeker size, just bot mode was bigger, I just have no interest in the Tamara or MT Seekers)

I just don’t use eBay anymore for this stuff, if I did it would be from decent sellers like Bababobo and not onedaybid who is not an honourable seller.

hope you get him sooner than that!

Nice pics! Say what you want about backpacks etc but FansToys do nail a sculpt!!

yes they are more expensive as well but they generally look amazing. Goose looks a bit sleeker than his Zeta counterpart in alt mode and there’s no comparison in bot mode.

At first I was going to put a positive spin on it and point out that Goose has 50% more waist swivel than FT-10!!

after seeing this video I’ve decided that it’s more accurate to say that “Goose is the Linda Blair of waist swivels.” :p

In all seriousness, I am not disappointed. I’m looking forward to this release.

Handling both I definitely appreciated that FT didn't come apart on me constantly. Everything other than the tail fins on the back of his legs are locked in tight, and the tailfins do hold okay for the most part.

I was looking at those comparison pics and wondering why Goose had seeker-style air intakes when Downthrust didn't. So I looked up pictures of an F-16A Fighting Falcon, and they don't. What FT has done is just make a real mess out of the front of the jet mode.
    20191214_084955.jpg

Why have they done this when Zeta managed not to? Is it "toon accurate" that way or just a huge compromise to achieve some other aspect? I'll admit, there are some touches to the jet mode that are slightly better done than Zeta, but that "step" a third of the way down the fuselage is a huge eyesore and a deal breaker for me. Ugly as hell.

Yeah, I would’ve gone with Baba as well, but unfortunately I took too long deciding whether I wanted this or not and he sold out.

If I understood you correctly ft put hinges there so it isn't as sleek.

I suppose the sleekness and silhouette of the plane mode is compromised by having to carry the ‘underbrick’ beneath it. That step corresponds exactly to where the robot undercarriage begins. Agree that Zeta got that curvature down better.

I agree FT with that hinge breaks the aerodynamics of the plane, in addition there is another difference but in its favor to open the cabin, here the comparison with the real one.

The Saturday morning cup of coffee always tastes better on mornings when I have a fanstoys figure with my name on it driving around town in a mail truck

Mad love to tcp & usps for getting my goose migrated north so fast.

Yeah, my earlier post wasn't as clear as my sleep deprived mind thought first thing this morning... my fiancee wanted to watch The Mandalorian when she got home from her night shift, and I'm off the caffeine at the moment, so my brain took a while to pull itself together.

Anyway, FT made 2 mistakes in my opinion, that Zeta got right, but the combination of the 2 amplifies the visual problem.

The first being (as mentioned) that the point where the top of the robot body meets the fuselage is too far forward, which has pieces jutting out, destroying the lines and aerodynamic appearance.

The second being that the break between the black wings and the main body of the jet is set slightly in from the edge of the fuselage. This gives the appearance of a second "step" and wrecks the lines again. 20191214_124958.jpg

The problem with both of those combined is that it looks like the front of the jet has a large bar running across it, giving it the appearance of being wider at the front than the rear. Zeta's jet is actually wider, but as a result looks better proportioned than FT's.
