If I stand him pretty straight (not with his legs a bit spread like he seems to like to stand) he actually stands a bit over 11" tall to the top of his head. A little under 12.5" to the top of his wings. Edit: Maybe I have him assembled wrong if mine is standing taller than BBTS says.
He really tops out at 11" at the head and 12.1" at the wings. Just barely fits a detolf. He does have a few expansion joints, such as his ab crunch. Using that will get him taller.
Much thanks. I was hoping to get a Klingsbo instead of a Detolf to display it, but those shelves are only 10.75". So I guess it will be back to a Detolf.

I wonder if this extra stock coming in are actually customer returns. All the banged, scuffed, bent boxes. This will be great for those that don't care for the box, but for those that do... might stay away as stated previously as I'm sure they'll get them in even more worse shape than before. On another note: ToyDojo still has some listed at retail: https://www.toydojo.com/soul-of-chogokin-gx-88-armored-fleet-dairugger-xv/
Down to $460 (!) Tis The Week Before Holiday Sale Soul of Chogokin GX-71 Beast King Go Lion Voltron 2nd Production Run
It might be legit new stock from the same batch that also recently supplied Gamestop.com? From my understanding the returns go over to Amazon Warehouse as a warehouse deal? But then again, buying 'new' and sold by Amazon.com you are pretty much guaranteed a banged up box...

So for GX-88 all the connections seems to have a release somewhere, but is there a trick to disconnecting the thighs from the waist? The waist seems fragile and the amount of force to disconnect the thighs seems a bit on the ridiculous side to me.
There really isn't much of a trick (as far as I have found). I just wrap my fingers around the thigh and use my thumb on the same hand to press against the bottom of his crotch (his gooch...lol) to kind of lever the thigh off of the metal hip post without sending parts flying or letting anything get jerked around too wildly when the part releases. It seems to get smoother/easier after a couple assembly/disassembly cycles.
So... As I look at GX 88 on the shelf I'm having trouble liking his proportions. His crotch is really wide, and his legs seem too long for his upper body. Am I the only one seeing this? I also don't care for how his hip skirts look when posing, but that's secondary to the odd proportions for me. The legs look more off to me in person than in my pics:
Kinda, I mean I can see what you're saying but I'm unbothered by it bcuz it's not a human so perfect proportions mean little to me in the grand scheme of things for anything robotic. My concern is well, now what? Are we looking at a dying thread with nothing new on the Voltron horizon, that's my concern
And so goes the Voltron product lifecycle. Make new version(s) of same old designs and then go radio silence for years. Lol. On the bright side, I now have what I consider to be perfect versions of the Voltrons from my childhood. The optimist in me says more new things are on the horizon. And with these SOCs out of the way, I’d feel fine with them branching out and trying something more daring. Like Robeasts. Or high-quality human figures. Or space mice...
Yeah you'd think with Bandai owning SHFiguarts we'd get atleast All the Pilots and the basic Villian cast
