Opened mine right now and right off the bat, the inability of Goose to turn left at the waist is a question I'd like an answer to.

The backpack isn't able to pull off toon or toy accuracy because the main wings are on the backpack and not on the legs.

The piece circled in red prevents the waist from turning left.

Not sure if I can even pop it out.

Vertical stabilizer can't be centered either from what I can tell.

Well, even in the G1 toon, Dragstrip's body wasn't exactly awe-inspiring.

How dark is the cockpit/window tint?
Are you able to shine a light through it?

It's very dark but still translucent.

Yea, it's a thing... Looks like the work around is he can almost rotate 300 degrees or so right (?) Until he hits that piece again so you can still pose him with some effort. I agree it's disappointing to say the least.

It's been discussed. The solution is turn the other way around. Yes in order to turn left, you gotta turn right and do almost a 360.But I think you can only get 300?

    Is it dumb? Yes.

Maybe once the rest of them are released, and we can combine them, things will make more sense. FT obviously did it this way for a reason.

My Zeta Downthrust is currently with @Paik4Life so he could do a comparison video review but both fighter modes have their plusses and minuses.

The "spin around the other way" fix to him not turning directly to the left is a non-issue for me. I don't buy Fanstoys figures for the playability factor. I buy them because I think they look the best. I will transform figures only occasionally...Maybe an average of once every 2-3 months I'll fiddle with one when I'm bored, but I love seeing the characters I grew up with on my shelf posing. People like me won't care about this "piece blocking turning directly to the left" nonsense.

I just think that Fanstoys is in the business of making these figures that Takara doesn't do or doesn't do well(MP Hot Rod), or older Takara MP's that need updating(Soundwave). I personally don't think they are made for the collector that wants playability. You can easily turn the waist the other way and get the same posing ability by just turning the waist the opposite direction. I don't see an issue.

    Final thoughts on Goose:

If you want a toon or toy accurate backpack, you'll have to wait as the backpack on Goose just isn't accurate to either. The main reason being the main wings on Goose are on the backpack and the rear horizontal stabilizers are on the legs when they should be vice-versa. With so much of the fuselage as part of the backpack, you don't get that sleek cockpit to rear thruster and stabilizers look like you see in the toy and the cartoon. The Aerialbot limbs always had that mini-jet as a backpack look and that was vital for me so Goose not being to pull that off is a bit off putting for me.

As far as heft, you're gonna get that due to the diecast as well as the better quality plastic. If you like that Fans Toys heft and feel, it's gonna satisfy you.

Everything on the front side of the robot mode is perfect. There really isn't much to complain about looking at the figure from straight on.

I do feel the underbelly of the jet is a bit wide. You can see it looking at the jet from a top view. Zeta did hide the underbelly robot block a little better. But that's really nitpicking from my Macross collecting since I'm used to immaculate fighter modes. LOL

I didn't try to tranform it into leg mode so that will remain to be seen but from what I saw on @Paik4Life's live feed yesterday night, the leg mode isn't as clean as I'd hoped it would be. And for what it's worth, the artwork shows it too.

Lastly, that waist joint that can't turn left. Had they made the obstructing piece two piece with a foldable hinge, I think it would've done the trick. But I'm not a designer/engineer so there's probably a good reason why Fans Toys made that piece the way they did. *shrug*

Comparing it to Zeta's Downthrust, I like both and I'll probably be keeping both. They both have their values in my eyes. But if you can only choose one or the other, then it's up to you on whether or not toy/toon accuracy, playability and durability is important to you.

The joint is a circle, you can go all the way around to the right to get a pose where he is turned left
